Clerian simply stands next to the two Loire sisters, glaring into the sky.
"Well...time to come up with a plan," Clerian says. His dark, calm voice brings a sense of reality back to the experience unfolding before them.
"Of course, we could retreat and leave this place to its fate. Or..." the ex-SeeD offers, unsheathing his two gunblades, "We could intervene. I don't exactly command a fleet of airships, but there's an army on the ground to be dealt with."
Rainii had an airship, but he didn't know how well her ship would fare against a whole fleet and he certainly didn't want to send her into a dangerous situation. If Clerian had a few squads of SeeD with him, it would definitely help even the odds, but...'you work with what you have', he was always told.
...and as far as the power surging within him felt, he had a lot waiting to be put to use.

((OOC - You were pretty dead-on, actually. Thanks for letting me get a post in, though. ) :: Julie still seems a bit nervous - she's never been in much of a real battle before. Despite it, though, she nods. :: "Sure. Mom trained me for this kind of thing... sorta..." :: She was trained for battle, she had just never had the experience. Either she would rise to the occasion, or slip up on the details. Regardless, it would be a learning experience. And Julie was determined not to back out as long as Rainii was involved. Her nervous expression gives way to solid resolve. :: "... Yeah. Let's go."

Shouldn't there be...soldiers here?

Clerian sighs lightly, unsure of the idea that Rainii would be charging into battle. After all, the last time he was with her, he was protecting her. Now, there was Rainii and her sister, with Clerian in the mix. Not good on Clerian's conscience.
Though it was quiet for now, Clerian had the bad feeling that trouble was waiting around the corner.
"I don't know what kind of battle experience either of you have, but...try to stick together and watch each others' backs. There are a handful of us and an army of them," Clerian told the girls.
With that said, he swung his twin gunblades around him and started walking slowly and casually onward.

:: Julie holds her gun professionally, which hides her lack of field experience well. At first glance, nobody would think she was an amateur, which would probably help a lot when they actually did encounter opposition. ::
:: She listens intently to Clerian's advice, and nods in reply. It sounded a lot like something her mother would have said. She was sure Clerian could handle himself, and Rainii probably could too, but she kept aware of herself and her allies at all times. ::

::Rainii follows behind Clerian, silently, mentally preparing herself for the battle ahead. the only consoling thought was that,at least right now, this would be easier than the battle with Loci had been.
She takes in her surroundings, carefully. What if they were ambushed? What if something happened to Julie? To Clerian?
Rainii shakes her head slightly, trying to dislodge the thoughts. She gives a quick glance up at the airship-filled sky--hoping that Infinity and Crohan are with her now, since they always were the better fighters--and continues forward.::

"Rainii..." Clerian muttered, keeping his voice low as he scanned the horizon for any sign of enemies, "Does Esthar have the ability to make a fleet like this?"
He was starting to think of the big picture now, not just the fight in front of them. If the Empire could attack multiple cities simultaneously, then this massive armada was just a fraction of their power.
"If we fight this entire Empire in small groups of three or four like this, we won't get anywhere," the strategic-minded ex-SeeD thought, "But if we can somehow form a fleet and an army, we could stand a better chance in the long run."

"We might need your people to do that," Clerian says softly, "Without an airship fleet to match theirs, we're at a huge disadvantage."
"If they're attacking multiple locations at once with an army unimaginable by our standards, we'll need an army of our own to put up a fight," he continued, eyes still looking across the broken city entrance as he moved cautiously forward, "And airships would be a major part of that equation."
Suddenly, he stopped and perked up. His eyes darted to a spot behind a chunk of rubble blown from one of the buildings.
"Get ready...they're waiting..." Clerian whispered.

Clerian notices that the group is ready and prepares to make the first move.
Gathering fire in the palm of his hand, he lets loose a Fire spell, breaking apart the boulder of rubble. Behind it stood two soldiers, who were startled by the blast, but quickly held back up their swords and charged.
Another group of three soldiers came from the left, something Clerian wasn't expecting. He gripped his gunblades tightly and braced himself, letting the enemies come.
Making a quick, last-minute joke, Clerian said, "I trust you guys not to shoot me."
