::Lillith shakes her head::
Are you kidding? Iole's never been much for school. She took off with Nyx right after...
::She has to whisper to Julie because the next part is very hard for Kenny to hear::
Right after Natalia died. She comes and goes, but for the most part she stays in Freya; Natalia's world.

:: Julie's not at all surprised to hear about Iole's opinions on school, but the rest comes as a complete shock. ::
"With Nyx? Is the whole..."
:: She lowers her voice, as she realizes the subject is straying vaguely close to Natalia. ::
"Is the whole Coven... still around?"
:: Most of her tone is curiosity, but there is a nervous tinge to it. She'd hoped never to meet Guinevere again. The thought of eventually doing so doesn't exactly inspire fear anymore, but it is not pleasant. ::

The only ones I'm sure of are myself and Nyx. Gwen and Echidna resurfaced later in Lindblum along with August. But we've already dealt with them. August and Echidna are both dead.
::There's a twinge of regret in those words that Julie picks up::
And as far as I know, so is Gwen. But she's proven me wrong in that area before.

((OOC - The official "get Julie caught up on everything" thread! )) :: It might just be the regret Julie hears in Lillith's voice, or her own overdeveloped sense of empathy... but her tone becomes much more sympathetic. :: "How were they? After... you know..." :: She had to remind herself for a moment that Lillith had been one of the coven as well, and had become her ally and friend. It was always possible that the others could have had similar changes of heart. :: ' Well... maybe not Gwen...'

::Lillith gives her a sad glance::
Later.
::After lunch, Lillith and Julie find themselves alone in the sitting room::
I wish I had better news there. Well you remember that Echidna went insane after what happened in Esthar? Iole had her put in an institution. She was determined never to give up on her. Well you know her. She even insisted that we call her by her real name Rena. But some time after that, Gwen pulled August back through that gate that Shaft and Nyx threw him into. They broke Rena out and... well they did some horrible things together. But still Iole refused to give up on her. Even after Rena almost killed her. She kept saying it was Rena's sickness that made her susceptible to being manipulated. And now I'm inclined to believe her. It was really Gwen and August. August did the dirty work, but Gwen was the mastermind. Rena was just some extra muscle. Anyway, once their plan came to fruition, Gwen cut her losses and killed August. Then she left Rena behind to fight us while she made her escape. Rainii, Jas, and I followed Gwen, but Iole, Eva, and Dante stayed behind so Iole could get a clear shot at Rena. I still don't know how she did it, but Iole brought Rena back from her insanity. She fled shortly after. The rest of us thought we had finished off Gwen, but again she proved us wrong. Turns out she had gone mad this time, letting her sorceress power consume her. She was frenzied and bloodthirsty, and nothing we did seemed to harm her. That's when Rena came back. She helped us escape and stayed behind to try and calm Gwen before her sorceress power made her go supernova. But... she... Gwen killed her before she got the chance. Iole was devastated. In fact she's buried just beneath the cliff on the beach. Anyway, the ship Gwen was on at the time sank into the sea. I don't know if she drowned or exploded or if she's still alive. But to tell you the truth I don't care anymore.

:: Julie gets incredibly absorbed into the story of what happened to all of these people she knew before her journey. She smiles at Iole's compassion for Rena, feels anger about Gwen's and August's manipulations, and even cries a little at the story of Rena's death. Surprisingly, she even feels sorry for Gwen in the end. It was beginning to sound like she was having problems controlling her own power. Maybe that had been her real issue. ::
'How can I feel sorry for her and still be glad she's gone?'
:: The most powerful feeling she gets, though, is a sense of loss. ::
"Wow, Lillith. I... I really feel like I should have been there."
:: She doesn't know how much help she could have been, but she still feels like she missed out on everything for a stupid journey that didn't even get her anywhere. ::
((OOC - I'm still playing on the assumption that Julie's been gone for about a year or two, making her eighteen or nineteen now. I'm just not finalizing it quite yet...))

No, don't feel sorry. I'm glad you weren't there. That was a nightmare for all of us. Rainii would tell you the same.
::There seems to be a lot Lillith is holding back about what happened::
Kenny still has nightmares about it... I almost lost him twice because of it.
(OOC: Well Lillith was about eighteen at the start of the second sorceress war. So she'd be in her mid-twenties now. And I've been playing on the idea that Lillith and Julie are the same age)

((OOC - They would be, if you had left the timeline the way it was when I left! Seriously, though, I'll be discussing the time thing with Rainii. I'd like to at least keep the Loire sisters consistent...)) :: Julie remembers a few of her darkest moments from her battles, but still feels the same despite them. :: "I know... it doesn't make sense, but I still feel like it's unfair. To you guys, I mean." :: She can't put any more of it into words. It's like she started something with them, and left them to finish it while she went away. :: "... You know what? Never mind. I shouldn't let myself get too worked up about it."

(OOC: Well I'd suggest saying this happened before everything going on in with the LPA did. The only age that would be inaccurate then would be Simon's, but who cares. I'm not ready to play around too much with him yet)
You're right. Especially since this is the first time we've seen each other in a long time. I really want to know what you've been up to. Come on, dish out the details before Rainii swoops in and steals you away.

:: Julie attempts to stifle a nervous laugh. :: "It's really not all that interesting. I travelled just a little bit at first. I figured someone at Garden would know about Clerian, so I, uh..." :: She glances around, as if searching for hints of anyone else listening. :: "... kinda bought a set of forged transfer papers in Timber. They made up a name, student registration, everything. Headmaster Cid caught me after just a few days, actually, but once I told him who I was and why I was there, he made it all official. He was really nice about everything, too." :: She pauses to brush a few stray hairs out of her face and sighs. :: "I stayed at Balamb for a couple of months, then Cid arranged to have me transferred. I went to Trabia, and even Galbadia. But nobody knew anything." :: After a moment, her expression brightens a bit. :: "So, I decided to start really travelling again. I thought that maybe Clerian was out in one of the other worlds. So I went to all of the ones I knew. But I didn't find anything... and before I knew it, I had been gone for over a year. I guess at that point, I just got homesick. So I came back." ((OOC - As you can probably guess, I was going with the 'about two years' theory. We can ignore the Simon glitch, I suppose. ))

::Lillith laughs::
You have to get up pretty early in the morning to put one over on old Cid. So I guess that pretty much makes you a SeeD now. So did you do anything interesting? Take on any missions?

"Ah... more like SeeD dropout."
:: Julie blushes, and her eyes drift away a bit. ::
"Since I was there, I wanted to try the exam... but I couldn't get a GF. I still went to some interesting places, I guess... have you ever been to Shumi Village? They have a huge statue of Dad there. And lots of Moombas! None of them can talk much, though..."
:: She pauses there, and lowers her voice a bit. ::
"By the way, don't tell anyone about any of that. Garden doesn't even know I was there... except for Cid. They all think I was just a girl from Winhill. 'Anya Louvel'. I kind of liked the name, actually. I hope she doesn't really exist... that'd be kinda awkward."

::Lillith smiles, but it's a sneaky one::
Well since you're here now, How about you apply for our SeeD exam. No GF required obviously, what with a lot of our students being sorceresses. Just one of the adjustments we've had to make as a Garden.

:: Julie hadn't even remotely expected that question. ::
"Er... what?"
:: She gives Lillith a suspicious look. ::
"Um, there's not a punchline to that, is there?"
:: For some reason, she suddenly feels awkward. Not in a bad way, just a general feeling of weirdness. It could just be the realization that the young sorceress she knew is now the headmistress of the most unique Garden in the world. ::

:: Julie can't imagine a reason why Lillith would mess with her like she suspects... but still can't shake the feeling. ::
"Yeah? So... are you? I mean... not that I don't trust you or anything, but, ah..."
'... maybe I'm just being paranoid?'
:: It could have something to do with "Anya's" last field test, and how horribly wrong that went, but Julie is too focused on figuring out whether Lillith's odd behavior is all in her mind or not to consider that. ::

:: Starting to come around to the idea that she was just being paranoid, Julie lets out a deep sigh. ::
"Sorry. I don't know why... that just felt weird."
:: She takes a few seconds to consider. ::
"I guess I could give it a shot, if you think I can do it. Just... not as Julie Loire, okay? The last thing I need is one of Dad's speeches..."

' Okay... this might be awkward.' :: After a moment, Julie's lips slowly curl into a mischievous smile. :: ' Maybe it'd help if I got in character.' :: A quiet giggle sneaks through before Julie can hold it back. Anxious to see Lillith's reaction, she activates the 'disguise' she had prepared from Esthar salon technology when she first decided to go undercover at Garden. Her hair goes a shade or two darker, becoming a rich honey blonde, and seems to pull itself back into a short ponytail - leaving two locks framing her face. Somewhere in the process, her straight hair had also become slightly wavy, and her eyes - augmented by high-tech contact lenses - shifted to a violet tint of blue. Anya then poses dramatically, the smirk on her face growing wider. :: "Well? What do you think? Effective?" ((OOC - I've been spending too much time discussing RP with Lucia. Now my characters can't keep their hair and eye colors the same. : )
