The train finally pulls to a stop at Lindblum and the group files out, Lillith first followed by Kenny, then Kerion, then Ren, followed by Eva and Dante who have managed to help Iole who exits last, get a very tired and still sound asleep Oliver onto her back. The rain patters against the cobblestone of the streets, reflecting the gloomy atmosphere of the city, as well as the bitter happenings of last night, which will undoubtedly make headlines tomorrow: AUTUMN HARVESTER STRIKES AGAIN is what they will undoubtedly read, whipping its citizens into another frenzy. However, our group of travelers has yet to learn of this troubling news.

::Lillith holds her hand into the air, creating an invisible air shield that spares her group from the downpour::
Alright, first things first, Kerion and I will go make our report to Captain Ames. I think it would be better if you guys just head back to the inn. He's already not too thrilled that Dante got involved. I can't imagine what his reaction would be if all of us got there at once. Trust me, you're not missing much. The guy's a jack-ass.

Oliver continues to slightly drool onto Iole's shoulder until a large droplet of wate splashes into his eyes, falling from a roof overhang within Lillith's shield.
"Uh..." Muffled annoyed moan. "I ges no sleep..." He fidgets a little, obviously trying to get down. "I'an walk, I'an." He slides off Iole's back and onto the ground which is immediatly met with a yelp. "Ah, wet!"
Oliver dances over to a dry spot under a roof, sits upon the stoop of some gloomy building and removes from under his coat some odd looking sandles, obviously designed for a Bumercian. Once he has donned them, returns back to the group.

::Lillith bends to be eye-level with Iole::
Iole, don't let him out of your sight.
::She moves face to face with Kenny and kisses him on the cheek::
Don't worry, I won't be long. Come on Kerion.
::The sorceress and the sharpshooter start heading out of the station. They pass by Oliver on their way::
Oliver, while I'm gone, Iole is in charge of you. Got it?

Oliver expresses extreme disdain at Lillith's order. "Wha!? I'm ta one that knos ta streets!" He frowns, shoulders slumping. "When ya become me mum..." He crosses his arms, humphs, and turns his head away slightly. "Fine, bu'I go'sume thins to do. Hope she don mind walkin through sum guttars and slums."

::Iole grins::
Pch, I may be a witch's brat, but I've been places.
::She takes Oliver's hand and whisks him the opposite way that Lillith and Kerion went::
See you guys back at the inn. Don't wait up for us.

::Lillith sighs as she and her partner make their way to the precinct::
Come on Kerion, let's get this over with.
::The two of them trudge through the rain, having little difficulty with the crowds who have chosen to stay inside, whether from the rain, or the risk of an attack, they're not sure::

Lillith and Kerion are led into the familiar stuffy office of Captain Armand William Ames who stands with his back to them, leaning against the wall with his forearm. The constable meekly introduces them.
"Captain, as you ordered."
Ames turns slowly to face them, leering at them with his cold blue eyes. His voice trembles with rage.
"Well look who's made a triumphant return."

"Whoa!" Oliver yelps as he's dragged away by Iole into the city. "Is touchin meee!!!" His voice trails off as they disappear into the city.
((Moving to another thread for this, less confusion for the three of us!))

The captain shoots them daggers, pinning Lillith and Kerion under his gaze.
"Tell me, it didn't occur to you to present the information to me first? Had the situation with the mad sorceress in Dollet been in my hands, we might have some credible evidence right now! Honestly, can't you people go anywhere without it going up in flames?!"

::Lillith returns the captain's anger with her own::
Hold on a minute, we didn't start that fire! There was no way we could have known what was going to happen! We were set up! There was no way in hell I was letting you and your brass handle her!
::Her expression softens as her anger gives way to suspicion::
Wait a minute... how'd you know we were in Dollet? We didn't tell anyone we were going to question Echidna. How did you know?

Ames stares blankly back at Lillith. "Are you implicating something sorceress? You have a lot of nerve coming in here waving accusations. The gumption it must take for a common ex-terrorist to try and besmirch the good name of the police. I should have you arrested."
He circles his desk to take his seat in his usual swiveling high-backed chair. "However, I'm in a rather good mood today. Instead you are simply going to be discharged."

::Lillith's eyes bulge and even the narrow slits of her pupils seem to grow wide::
Dis... discharged?! On what grounds? My associates and I have conducted ourselves professionally the whole way through this. Even your subordinates will vouch that we've been nothing but cooperative. We're an asset to you and you know it.

"Oh really!" Ames pulls some papers out from his desk and throws the bundle in front of them, letting Lillith peruse its contents. It's a newspaper with a shocking, albeit unoriginal headline: AUTUMN HARVESTER STRIKES AGAIN, Lindblum in Panic. "That is the edition for tomorrow's paper. It happened not more than twelve hours after you went gallivanting off to Dollet. What do you have to say for yourself?"
The front page of the article reads as follows: As usual, the victim bears three stabs to the chest, and their abdomen has been sliced open. The police haven't released a statement yet but it is believed there are some inconsistencies with this victim. For one, a different type of knife has been used, it also seems the killer didn't have quite enough time, the scene was left messier than usual, with the victim's liver being removed through use of the bear hand rather. The investigation unit, led by esteemed Captain Ames has already gathered evidence. However Ames was unavailable for comment. Perhaps the harvester is finally slipping up? Or perhaps growing more arrogant. A note was said to have been found at the scene of the crime which authorities believe...
Ames interrupts any further reading by snatching the paper away. "You'll be on the next train out of Lindblum by 11:30 sharp. Take your leave of this investigation, or I will have you written up on charges of obstruction and place you in Lindblum custody. One can only imagine what would become of your school."

::Lillith runs over the article in her head again::
The article mentioned something about a letter being written by the culprit. What did it say?

Ames doesn't answer Lillith's question. He simply waves her away as he raises his coffee mug to his lips. "You may take your leave now sorceress. I believe we're done here. Oh, and Kerion, you've done admirable work. You'll find your payment at the front door. Your services are no longer required."
He signals for the constable to show them out. He takes Lillith gently, but firmly by the elbow. He gives her an apologetic smile. "Sorry miss."

::Lillith clenches her fist as the pompous hack turns his chair away from them. Electricity charges in arcs over her knuckles::
You don't care about those victims at all. You're just a glory hound. A second rate slimy self serving loathsome little cockroach.
::She feels her static charged hand pulled back. Her gaze meets with Kerion's who shakes his head. She lets her magic fade, knowing he's right. She shakes off both his grip and that of the constable's before storming out of the office::

The two now unemployed joint investigators are led to the front entrance of the headquarters. A courier is waiting at the front with a parcel for Kerion. Instead of actual money in it however, it's a receipt which states that the promised sum has been wired to his account. The rain's declined to a steady drizzle, and the street remains a dismal scene even as the first daylight breaks.
