Docked at Lindblum, the Hijrah opens her hatch to the dockside. Standing with his sea-bag over his shoulder is a glum Miguel, behind him is the rest of the Hijrah crew. All remain sullen, Nivzad and Tresk appearing angry while the others look disappointed. Vincent stands directly behind him, hand on Miguel's shoulder. Beside him is Nahla with a rifle should Miguel try anything, as if he would at this point.
"You knew it would come to this." Mentions Vincent, coldly but with a sense of sadness.
Miguel nods. "Aye... but I had to do it. My conscious wouldn't have it otherwise."
"Understandable, but every action has a consequence. You have our postal box, if anything happens or you finally ready to return, let us know. Goodbye for now."
Miguel nods. "Will do and same."
With that, Vincent nudges Miguel to walk off the gangway and onto the airdock. The crew looks on as the gangway retracts and the hatch closes, Miguel looking back. When the ship shuts, Miguel stays for a moment, looking back, then turns and walks away.
"I need a tavern..."

In some seedy, forgotten, underground bar, Miguel sits at the bar counter downing shot after shot of some brown booze. His eyes occasionally looking to the door when it opens, but then turns back to his shot-glass. He lets out a little sigh after each shot while his tail just slowly brushes against the dirty floor.

I think you've had quite enough of this.
::Miguel hears a familiar voice behind him. A hand with a birthmark he knows all too well appears and pries the glass from his hand::
So, where's the good captain?

Angry at the apparent stealing of his booze coupled with the intoxication, Miguel spins off his bar stool, dropping to the floor and barely able to keep standing, and attempts to swing at his liqueur thief. It's a swing and a miss and Miguel stumbles back against the bar. He dazedly looks up, lets his eyes focus and his ears clear.
"Nahtalleaa?"
He shakes his head, thinking its a alcohol induced illusion.
"Thas-relly yu? Dun tels me whas ther sayins tru!?"
He tries to step forward but is far too dizzy.
"Oh... tis aint goods."

::Miguel is hit suddenly in the face with icy water, sobering him up a bit::
You're going to have to be a little more specific. I'm not sure who they are, much less what they're saying.

Miguel runs his hand over his face and muzzle and flicks the water off. He blinks a few times then crawls back up to the bar stool.
"When did I fall in the drink?" He asks himself, profoundly confused why his face and fur is wet. "What was I saying? Oh, um, yea. Did you really attack the Garden? The radio said someone who looks like ya did just that a few days ago. With demons and all!"
He turns around, back to the bartender and motions for another drink. The bartender eyes Natalia, then Miguel, rolls his eyes and walks down the bar to another patron. Miguel frowns then is head falls flat onto the bartop, knocking over the stack of empty shotglasses. He out momentarily but starts to move again, his eyes fluttering open and shakily his head tries to raise.

::Natalia rolls her eyes, already sitting at one of the barstools near him::
It's rather crowded here to talk about that don't you think?
::She sighs, deciding it would at least sober him a little if they spoke::
It's true. I attacked Balamb Garden. But why should something like that concern you? I thought you and the captain didn't care what happened to the world, that you were only thrown into the struggles against your will. I figured that was why you didn't try to find me, and why you're not planning to assist me now.

His face still against the top of the bar, swimming in what smells like split rum that has pooled around his head, Miguel speaks in a half-sleepy slur.
"Maybe them, but not me... I'm tried of seeing everything so messed up. It ain't right, ya know? Too much dying and destruction, reason I am what I am."He blindly grabs around for a standing shot glass, finding one he takes it up and pours the last few drops of it into the side of his mouth then slams it down. "I ever tell you the story why me and Vinny came to traveling the ol'skyways?"

::Slyly Natalia slips the drink out of his hand and slides it down to the far end of the bar::
I don't believe so. But I have time.

Miguel begins to lap at the split booze with his tongue as he begins to talk. "That's too bad... ya see, we grew up together. Sort of, he was the son of a general while I was just the little cellar rat of a cook for the palace. He treated me like anyone of HIS peers, like a friend. He'd play with me while the other 'children of privilege' treated me like... well a servant. Only friend I had, none of the other palace servants had children just my luck." He paws at the edge of the bar with one hand, trying to push himself out of the booze, but he's still far to wasted for his motor skills to work right so he gives up. "Then Kefka attacked with those Espers, Vector had to be evacuated. Vinny's father stayed behind but he sent him with me and my mum to his mother's place in the desert near Figaro. Oh my poor mum, she was weak and could barely walk, much less care for two little kits on that long journey but, dammit, she got us there... at the cost of her life. Strain too much for her... oh but Mrs. Kumi was nice and all, tried to treat me as her own but it just wasn't the same."
He rubs his bloodshot eyes with a ruffled hand.
"Then after that, nothing but wars in the region... one after another. When we both were old enough, we fled, get away from that worn torn place and good thing we did. Whole place went KAABOOM!" Makes an explosion hand gesture. "Torn up into nothing, now we were nationless. Just refugees from nothingness. Couldn't work for anyone, no place wanted us, so we took what money we had and put it to use. Little bit later we got the Hijrah from a scrap yard and made it our own, got the others who were in the same boat as us... and you know the rest of the story."
His eyes start to close slightly, dozing a bit.
"I keep loosing everything to war and fighting... sick of it..."

::Natalia nods taking in his story::
Then it sounds like you and I are in the same boat. We're trying to protect everything we hope for the future. Those women who have joined me are sorceresses like myself. They've been hated and despised nearly their whole life, torn from their homes simply for waht they are. I don't suppose you'd be interested in helping our cause?
::As she speaks the barkeep, apparently hearing the conversation has reached under the bar and pulled out a shotgun to quietly point it at Natalia's head. Beads of sweat start rolling down his face::
Barkeep: That's enough of that missy. I don't want any trouble, but I'm afraid I don't serve your kind here. So why don't you get on your broomstick and leave without any incident.
::Normally she would have snapped this man's weapon in half and impaled him without a second thought. However she merely ignores him and keeps her eyes on Miguel::
How about it? If not for me, then maybe for Cherai?
Barkeep: Are you deaf? I said get out!

Miguel by now is nearly unconscious and completely unaware of his surroundings but, before he closes his eyes he does mutter one last statement.
"For Cherai..."
That is followed by a muffled snore as he falls asleep.

::When Miguel awakes he's slumped over the saddle of a great lizard-like creature. Natalia straddles it just behind him::
So, you're awake.
::She looks ahead toward their destination::
I know you haven't agreed to come with me, but I couldn't just leave you there. You did save my life once after all.
::She makes a clicking noise with her tongue and the creature stops. She swings her leg and returns from the ground. Then she reaches up and pulls Miguel off and sets him on his feet as easily as though he were a child. Inspection of the creature's coloring reveals that it is not Iole::
If you choose not to accompany me I understand. There's a facility about half a mile that way. You should be able to contact the Hijrah from there. That would probably be best for you. However you will find no alcohol where you are going.
::She turns to get back on her mount, but stops::
Before I go I wanted to give you something. ::reaches into her sleeve and pulls out a pair of half-moon glasses that Miguel instantly recognizes:: She always wore these stupid things. I'm not sure if she even needed them. I still have no idea how she managed to keep them intact after everything they went through.
::After handing the trinket to him she leaps astride her creature again and makes to leave::

Miguel, though slightly confused, takes the glasses and stares intensely at them for amount before cupping his hand around them.
"I can't go back to the Hijrah..." He steps forward and grabs her leg. "I've been marooned... I did something I shouldn't have and it was either this or 'walking the plank', you could say." He lets go of Natalia's leg and uses the hand to scratch the back of his head. "I- really have no where else to go."

You really have no idea what you're getting into Miguel. What if the good captain and his crew, your friends, your family start to choose a side. Would you be willing to fight them? I should tell you that Rainii, Eva, Dante and the others have already sided against us.

Miguel sheepishly nods, looking back down to the glasses.
"Yea, but Cherai trusted you... why shouldn't I?" He bites his lip for a moment. "And I don't think Vincent will get involved this time. Kinda the reason why I'm here... we didn't see eye to eye on this thing."

::Cherai. Natalia thinks back to her first meeting with the girl and remembers bitterly just how wrong she was to involve her in this. If it hadn't been for her Cherai would have been home reading about adventures, not in the think of one. But it seems she never learns from past mistakes. Crohan, Rainii, Iole, she had pulled them into her struggle while they had still been innocent. Would she do the same to Miguel? She looks down from her mount at his pleading eyes and sighs before holding out her hand::
Come on.

Miguel smiles, fling his seabag back over his back and grabs Natalia's hand and hoists himself up, taking seat behind her. He quickly adjusts himself and tucks the glasses into his shirt.
"Well... um where too now?" He looks away for a moment, then back to Natalia. "And thank you..."

::Natalia says nothing. While the two of them are on it the lizard transforms into a great black warhorse with soulless white eyes and a long white mane::
To Balamb Garden. I have some unfinished business there.
::It's all she says on the matter as the horse rears up on its hind legs. Miguel has to cling to her waist to avoid being thrown off. Her billowing black cloak spreads wide, resembling shadowy black wings. Once the horse lands again on all fours it gallops in the other direction, it and its two riders vanishing into the night::
(OOC: Alright. Everything's finally set up for the second battle at Balamb. I'll wrap things up with Shaft and the others ASAP)
