:: Melaina loosens her grip on her weapon, the fierce blue glow of her eyes fading away slowly as she realizes there are no more enemies nearby to fight. ::
"... That's it?"
:: She sighs deeply ::
These people may be more interesting than most, but they don't provide much entertainment.
:: At least she could be sure that Jidoor was safe, even if it was an extravagant and mostly useless little human town. In one of her increasingly more common flashes of consideration for others, she wonders if her friend Tabitha survived the battle. ::
... This pathetic little world is beginning to grow on me far too much.

:: Before Laguna can answer, one of the rescued citizens of Jidoor looks through a window. ::
Man: "Hey! All those weird creatures are gone..."
:: Some others might be disappointed in a mostly wasted effort to evacuate innocents from a battlefield. Not Laguna. After only a brief pause, he cheerfully replies. ::
"Well, at least we protected them until the battle was over. Of course, we might need to find some place for them to stay if the town needs to be rebuilt..."
:: He takes a moment to think ::
"... Not a lot of places around here, though. At least, I don't think."

:: Julie casts a wary glance toward Airlia. She's not sure why, but there's something she just doesn't like about the girl. She and Rainii seemed to get along okay, so she isn't exactly suspicious. Just a little cautious. ::
"Looks like we survived another battle. I wonder why they left, though...?"

"Whatever the reason...It probably wont turn out good for us in the long run."
::Rainii notices Julie's wary glance at Airlia, but decides against commenting on it. She had even almost gotten used to the fact that people distrusted Airlia from the get go. Maybe it was because she had done the same herself, at first. She streches slightly, and looks around, surveying the damage.::
"At least Jidoor is safe for the moment!"

"Oh..." Morgan started, "That's true, I suppose. As long as everyone is alright."
"What about you two? What'll you do?" Cara asked Eleanor and Michael.
"Well, our house wasn't badly damaged. There are a few others like it. We'd be happy to house those without until someone rebuilds their homes. Of course, we could only fit maybe three people..."
"I'm gonna mind the stables!" Michael yelled.
"Really!? You're gonna stay with the cute chocobos!" Cara laughed, "Will you do me a favor?"
"What?
Cara lead Michael over to a particularly pudgy chocobo, "Would you take special care of this one for me?"
"Okay! What's it's name?" "Aw... It's a boy... It's name should be... Clarence!" "Clarence?" "What's wrong with that?"
The two of them bickered over the name. Eleanor laughed to Morgan, "Those two..."
"Will you two be okay, housing others?" Morgan asked, worried.
"We should be okay."
"Well... If this'll help..." Morgan handed her a bag of gil.
"I... I don't suppose there's any way of convincing you it's unnecessary."
Morgan shook his head.
"Well... Thank you."
Morgan turned to Laguna, "Maybe we should take those with absolutely nothing elsewhere, and allow those who want to start rebuilding to stay..."
Gabriel interrupted, "What if they come back? How do we know how long they're gone?"
Morgan darkened a touch, "Well... I guess it might be best to check with the others. Get up to speed."

:A wave of destruction overwhelms her, ever since the first battle in Junon with Eva she had craved it:

"Three of our force went to get Jidoor to safety... The others went on a mission to rescue Captain Vincent's crewman. And if you didn't care, why would you ask at all?" Iris offered, with a smile. She took off her glasses and cleaned them.
"These things are quite troublesome in these situations... Perhaps I should consider alternatives..." She blew on the lenses once more and wiped away with her sleeve, "So... With the sudden withdrawal of our enemy, which, I might add, was quite coincidentely, following the arrival of Miss Eyanson here, that leaves us with very little to do here... How will we get the Hijrah back in the air?"

Nahla and Rafee appear, atop their chocobo mounts, behind Iris and the others. "Don't worry about the Hijrah." Rafee reassures. "We'll get her running again, though..." He looks out over to the direction of where the Hijrah is 'parked'. "Might take some time, we need to figure out why the enemy retreated so suddenly."

((OOC - Okay, so this thread is pretty much done. Except for the fact that we still need to leave Jidoor, and nobody's posting. So here I go.))
:: Laguna takes a moment to consider ::
"Hmm. Well, I guess I could drive back to the airships. If anyone wants to come along, then..."
:: Before he can finish, nearly everyone in the room cringes and begins shaking their heads rather emphatically. Laguna sighs, showing for a moment that he's not always as oblivious as he used to be. ::
"Y'know, it's a prototype armored car. It's not my fault it doesn't drive like a sports model."
:: Some part of Laguna was actually thankful that Ward wasn't around when he said that. His old G-Army comrades would be able to attest to his usual level of driving skill. Within a split-second, his expression brightens, reflecting his usual optimism. ::
"Anyway, I'll head back to see what's going on. Coming, Morgan? Cara?"

"Yeah... I'm coming." Morgan replied. He looked back at Cara.
"Why do you always think I'm just going to stay behind!? I'm coming, too!"
Cara turned to Michael and Eleanor, "Goodbye, Michael. Goodbye, Eleanor." She then looked at Gabriel, "And goodbye, Gabriel."
Gabriel gave her a look, "Goodbye? I'm not staying in this hole any longer than I have to... Which means, I'm coming."
"Uh..." Morgan started. "I don't think..." Cara began.
Gabriel pushed past them and got into the car.
Morgan and Cara exchanged a look, then sent one to Laguna.
"Um... I guess it's not a big deal... We're ready when you are." Morgan said.
Inside the car, Gabriel watched the others. A slight glare in his eyes.

Post by Clerian Soulflare on Nov 20, 2007 17:59:13 GMT -5
"Events like this make me miss Garden," Clerian remarked to himself, doing his usual post-battle reflection. For a man who had lived to perfect his arts in the way of battle, he had far too much philosophy and thinking involved. It always had a way of complicating and distracting an otherwise excellent soldier. In Clerian's case, that was his problem. Too much inversion, not enough extroversion. As a "go there, do this" man of the Garden's special forces, this wasn't a desired quality.
Looking up to the sky, he frowned and whispered grimly, "The next time you drag me across the world and back again, make sure it's a real battle."
He wasn't speaking to any of those bustling individuals around, but apparently someone who wasn't present.
With that little piece said, he closed his eyes and stood still - almost in a meditative state - saying to himself, "I'll be ready."
Though it was strange to see him like that in the middle of a battlefield, he was - in fact - attempting to plan ahead. The Order had suddenly withdrawn in the midst of a fight they were winning by far. That could only mean they had something more important come up out of the blue...
Clerian had to try one last thing. Their current forces weren't enough to match the Order, and Clerian was a SeeD without a squad.
He brushed his long hair, strewn about and messy from battle, back behind him - eyes fixed on Julie. Rainii had gone and she seemed to be the most receptive to his words.
"Julie," he said, walking up to her, "I'll be heading out for a while."
There. His job was done. But he couldn't bring himself to leave yet.
Hesitating, he took off his silver ring and held it up. "I don't plan on dying, and I don't intend for you to die, either. Hold onto this until I can come back to get it," he told her, eyes and voice as calm as usual.
And with that, he started walking away. Alone. Only he knew the road he needed to take.
[OOC: To Balamb Garden, unless Julie stops Clerian.]

:: Without even a suspicious glance at Gabriel, Laguna simply accepts his newest passenger. Settling himself into the driver's seat, he starts up the engine. ::
"Alright. Here we go!"
:: The armored car lurches forward, navigating the terrain of Jidoor with a lot more shaking and rattling than was absolutely necessary. Combined with Laguna's moderately reckless driving, the effect on his passengers was much the same as before. ::
:: The car reaches the place where the others are gathered fairly quickly. Laguna hops out of the car just in time to see Ward shaking his head. ::
"Oh, come on... you too?!"
:: Ward's eyes shift a bit ::
Ward: "......"
"Hey, I was a lot more careful this time!"
:: Ward seems to have more to add, but glances suspiciously at Gabriel, who is exiting the car. ::
Ward: "......"
:: Laguna turns to see what Ward is indicating. ::
"Oh, him? He was at the chocobo stables. I guess he didn't want to stay behind with the others..."

"Um... Clerian, doesn't it seem a little weird that they just left like that?"
:: As soon as the words are out, she mentally kicks herself for saying something that was probably incredibly obvious to Mr. Super Soldier. ::
"I mean... shouldn't we try to find out where they went?"
:: And another mental kick for another obvious statement. This was a new way of thinking for Julie, and she was probably still absolutely useless at this whole planning-for-battle thing. Eventually, she begins to turn around. ::
"... Never mind. You're probably already a thousand steps ahead by now."

(OOC--I'm still here, I swear. ^_^)
::Rainii simply stood there, as if waiting for something to do. After awhile, she wanders over to the Ragnarok, looking the ship over. It had escaped any damage, which was a relief to her.
She notices her father's return, but decides to leave him be for the moment. She leans against the ship, lost in thought.::

(OOC: Assuming we were in it, too...)
"Oh, c'mon, Wardzy! It was a war zone out there, and you expect him to drive cautiously!?" Cara laughed as she leapt out of the car, "That was GREAT!!!"
Morgan was a little more hesitant getting out, "I... I..." He held his stomach, "That was... Something..."
Gabriel, already out, scanned over everyone, "... Interesting crew..." Hm... It seems they scared them off... Probably luck. I'll need to investigate them more... "Don't mind me. I'm not much for words..." he stood there, un-awkwardly, as he allowed the others to converse.

"Ah, the rescue squad is back." Iris commented, "So, doesn't that make all of us? ... Plus one?" her gaze stopped on Gabriel.
...Probably luck. I'll need to investigate...
Iris began to read his aura...
"Hm... Aren't you an interesting addition to our little group?"
Another Chaos? No... There is nothing that lurks within this one... Merely a disturbing aura of his own...
(OOC: Works better to not change...)
"I never said I was going to help you..." Gabriel replied, "I just needed transportation. I will pay my fare, be it with gil or feat, then be on my way..."
"I see..." Iris blinked slowly, then turned away from the sour man.

You're probably already a thousand steps ahead by now." Clerian stops. "I try to be," he replied, "But this time, I'm not." He sighs, knowing that he has no idea what the Order is up to other than a basic fact. "The fact that they just fled in the middle of a winning battle tells us only one thing. They found something that can be of more use to their plans than destroying a city and killing us," he explains. Turning his head slightly, he concludes, "Which is a very bad thing." Clerian paused, taking a moment to take in the situation. "They're waging a war to annihilate everything across multiple worlds. We need to get these worlds to fight back..." the young man said, turning to face Julie. "You and the others can look for the Order, if you'd like, but...there's no point in looking for an enemy that you can't defeat. That's why I'm heading out by myself for now," he told her, "The world needs to fight back, even if it's just a little at a time."
