:: Laguna comes up on the elevator platform just in time to hear Julie. ::
"We can't fire our particle cannon, either... the charge sequence is too obvious."
:: The particle cannon is, of course, the most powerful weapon on board the Ragnarok. But he's not sure what the Variola is equipped with... Esthar may be the most technologically advanced place on Laguna's own world, but other worlds could have even better technology at any time. ::
"We could send in ground troops now... or fire our lasers and hope to take out the Variola before they can do anything."
:: The tone in his voice is reluctant... no matter how many times he's had to face hard decisions in the past, Laguna never feels right risking others' lives. He could be as reckless as he wants with his own life, but... ::
:: He cuts off the thought and sighs deeply. ::
"Any suggestions?"
:: Julie keeps a shipwide signal open, relaying his question to both ships. ::

"I don't want to give up, but..."
::She never imagined their plan falling apart so fast. She frowns, thinking, as she keeps the Ragnarok steady.::
"Unless anyone has any really fantastic suggestions, we might just have to."

Hesitantly, Clerian spoke up.
"We may have to pack up and leave. This is a losing battle," he said, taking a hand off one of the triggers to brush his hair out of his face.
"I'm not sure which of our two airships has the greater firepower, but I suggest one airship commence an evacuation of Jidoor while the other flies cover. We may not be able to fight on even ground this time, but that doesn't mean we're leaving the people of Jidoor to become victims of the Order," the ex-SeeD announced with a strong sound of determination in his voice.

((OOC - Yeah, I pretty much planned this reveal since I had been gone for two days and needed a new plan. Seems like it'll work.))
:: Ward comes up behind Laguna, who turns to face his friend and aide. The silent man nods to the president. ::
Ward: "......"
:: Laguna nods back ::
"Alright."
:: He faces Rainii and Julie, keeping the comm signal open so Clerian can hear. ::
"The Ragnarok probably has superior firepower, but we've got something on board that might give an edge to a ground team. I, er..."
:: He pauses for a moment ::
"... 'borrowed' a little something from Research and Development. It's a prototype armored ground vehicle... doesn't really have a name yet. Weapons are still in development for it, but we can use it to assist an evacuation, if that's the plan."
:: From his tone, he obviously thinks it's the best plan they've got. Clerian wasn't disappointing him one bit. ::

"Then that sounds like our best plan. The Hijrah will provide cover for the Ragnarok's rescue operation," Clerian repeated, acknowledging what Laguna had said. It was, of course, their best plan. He had a mind to ask if anyone opposed the idea, but this was no time for second-guessing. Timing was crucial and the longer they talked, the more people would die.
"I suggest we put the Hijrah into a defensive position and follow the Ragnarok, holding as sort of a wall. Nahla and I have the guns, so we'll do our best to keep harm away from the rescue team. President Loire, you know what to do, so good luck to you and your people," he said over the comm, hoping everyone heard.

::Rainii replies, overhearing Clerian on the comm., and she steers the Ragnarok toward Jidoor.::

"Tresk here." His voice comes over the com. "Acknowledge the plan, Hijrah will cover Ragnarok. God-speed."
The Hijrah positions itself as directed, creating a buffer.
"Kick the tires and light the fires!" Nahla cheers, taking aim on at the Variloa to distract its attention away from the Ragnarok.

(OOC-I guess it's time for a little catch up..just pretend I've been here the whole time ..P.S I warn you now I'm suffering from a great deal of writers block..) Rinoa holds onto the nearest stable object she can find on board the Ragnarok as the ride gets a little shaky. She hears the new plan announced and nods to herself as she takes in the information. "Alright" She says in approval of the plan, and awaits further instruction.

The Variloa contacts the ships once again. "We've concluded by your maneuvers that you have decided to continue the fight. Variloa out."
The sky suddenly goes clear, the Plague-Coats retreating from their attack, flying back to the Variloa, taking up a position behind it.
The bow of the Variloa begins to glow, like an orange smile from a Cheshire cat.

It was obvious what was going to happen now. The problem would be to make sure what the Order wanted to happen, wouldn't.
"Hijrah, Ragnarok...climb in altitude and prepare for evasive maneuvers!" Clerian said over the comm, "We have to draw their cannon's path away from the city and try to avoid it!"
This was a horrible situation.
"We're prepared to fight and die, but the people of Jidoor are just bystanders," he thought to himself, looking out of his turret control toward the city, "I'm content in my own death, but I'd rather not take those people with me..."

((OOC - Yet another nothing post, but I feel obligated to do something after three days. Even if nobody else has...))
:: Julie once again sits silently as events move around her. Until the evacuation starts, all she can do is help the more experienced Ragnarok crew where needed. But as she listens to Clerian speak, a small smile breaks into her thoughtful expression. ::
There he goes again, playing the classic military hero...
:: Despite her disdain for Clerian's usual stoicism, Julie trusts his instincts to help their team save Jidoor. It briefly enters her mind that she had never even heard of the town before this mission, but it doesn't really matter. She is getting tired of the silence, though. ::

Though he was quick to determine a course of action in the midst of battle, the recent turn of events led Clerian to wonder about the grander scheme of things.
"What am I doing here?" he asked himself, "I've never even seen Jidoor before this, and most of the people I'm fighting alongside of are complete strangers."
"I'm here, supposedly leading some sort of rescue and defense operation to save and protect people I have nothing to do with, " the ex-SeeD concluded, "And with nothing to gain. The greatest outcome in my case is survival."
"But I...still feel like protecting these...strangers...is what I'm meant to do. Even if I die," he thought, before pointing out the irony, "...again."
Clerian left his train of thought there and focused on the fight, killing the sudden introspective on his own choice of living. His thoughts faded out and gave way to the sound of cannon fire and people yelling back and forth.

"Tresk here." His voice shooting over the Hijrah's intercom system. "The Order airship is about to fire, brace yourself! Taking evasive maneuvers." Com goes quiet.
"Damn, damn, damn!" Tresk spins the wheel hard to port. "Captain is gonna kill me if I damage the ship again."
The Hijrah, diverts left bring it's starboard side to the Variloa. It's overdrive engines kick in, propelling the ship out of the Variloa's path.

The Variloa fires, launching a strange orange wave of energy out from its bow. It flies through the air, kicking up the earth hundreds of feet below from the wake.
It's path is strange, not targeting Jidoor at all, instead it flies between the Ragnarok and the Hijrah, both ships just missing a direct impact. It detonates in the space between both ships, creating a large blast. Knocking the two ships around, their systems go haywire, and engines strain to maintain flight.
The Hijrah's engines then go cold...

Tresk grabs the helm hard, trying to hold the Hijrah stable, it shudders and groans horribly then begins to fall. He reaches for the intercom. "Things are going to get interesting!" He yells into it.
Nahla yells back, into the head set. "Define interesting!?"
Tresk replies back, rather deadpan. "Oh god, oh god, we're all going to die?"
"Then get us on the ground!" Nahla yells back, rather flustered.
"Oh that part will definitely happen. Nivzad, anything you can give me!"
"Shut up, I got it!"
The intercom goes quiet as the Hijrah begins to spin out of control as it descends to the ground.
"Leaf on the wind, leaf on the wind..." Tresk mutters, trying to get the helm to respond. He strains, doing everything to get the engines to respond. "Watch how I soar." Just then, thrusters kick in, though not enough to maintain flight it slows their descent down, toward the outskirts of the city below.

::The Ragnarok shakes violently, but stays in the air. Rainii has a hard time controlling it at first, but eventually gets it under control, and steers the ship to follow the Hijrah, in it's decent. The two ships land outside Jidoor, and the crew from the Ragnarok rushes to see if the crew of the Hijrah is ok.::

The 'interesting' landing made Clerian's neck sore. Being in the seat of the cannon controls wasn't exactly a prime place to strap in, but at least the ship wasn't destroyed.
Climbing his way to the bridge, he asked aloud, "Everyone alright?"
Looking out the bridge, he could see the Ragnarok coming to land by the Hijrah. Giving a sigh of relief, he thought to himself, "At least those two are alright..."

:: As the ship is hit by the explosion, Laguna begins to lose his footing. ::
"Whoa!"
:: Thanks to the advanced technology of the Ragnarok, he manages to keep from falling on his face. ::
"Well... that was... interesting."
:: He shrugs ::
"Guess we're all going down now."
:: His eyes shift back and forth between his two daughters. Rainii seems more on the calm side, but even Julie isn't as panicked as she might have been only about a month ago. Laguna remains silent as the ship lands. This would, of course, call for a revision of strategy. But he remains optimistic, so far. ::

:: As soon as the airships have landed, Julie jumps out of her chair and runs for the elevator platform. Some might notice that she seems to be worried about something... particularly those in the passenger cabin on the Ragnarok and those on board the Hijrah. As she disappears, Ward casts a meaningful glance at Laguna, shaking his head. ::
Ward: "......"
:: Laguna frowns, but the humor intended is obviously not lost on him. ::
Laguna: "Hey! Who're you callin' troublesome?!"
:: Ward grins, just before disappearing as the elevator descends. ::

Morgan and Cara follow the rest as they disembark.
"Is this a good idea?" Cara asked somewhat hesitantly, "Aren't we safer in the ship?"
Morgan stopped and turned around, "We're in danger no matter where we go... We have to make sure the others are alright..." He turned back and continued, while Cara looked after the rest for a moment.
"What have I gotten into..." She shook her head and followed.
