August casually passed through the crowd, his eyes wavering from one guest to another, till he caught a most familiar and vile scent. He turned, spying a woman with a fan, pretending she didn’t notice. Oh what delightfulness this was, like a children’s game. He couldn’t recall a more festive time he ever had then in this moment, right now.
“Oh, what a pleasant surprise. Lady Sorceress Solidus. How truly delightful to see you again after all this time.” August snidely took a sip from his glass. “I hope you remember your old friend Karsnow – oh the times we had together. Remember those times? Because I certainly do.” His voice took on a darker tone, the shadows in the room even seemed to suddenly choke his image. “So who else is here? Do I sense… yes, Lillith, no doubt. And if my eyes do not deceive me, the good captain is here as well – Oh and is that little Oliver, dressed so snugly as a waiter. He certainly has grown since Lindblum, hasn’t he? Seems our whole little troupe has just come back. How utterly delightful.” Takes another long sip, his eyes never leaving Guinevere. “I must ask though, since when did you begin to associate with such rubbish as them? Or is this what betrayal does to ones conscious, hmm?” His voice was growing giddy. “I say, I am disappointed. To think I died so you could eventually fall into their little web of altruism. Associating with terrorists and half-baked witches and pirates. I pity what you’ve become.”
His eyes glanced to his left, where he saw a man approach, with a dagger hidden aside. "You may want to call off your attack dog, I am a guest of Count Sigismund, after all. Doubt very much he would appreciate a killing on such a grand occasion."

August my pet. How long has it been?
::Guinevere played the role of greeting an old friend with all the grace of the famed actress she had always been::
As kordial as ever my dear. But must you treat my friends so? I kould do worse for kompany. Wouldn't you agree? At the very least, they don't stink of death or hell.

"But they do so stink of many, many other things." August retorted with a smile, "The worst being the stench of betrayal. One worthy of any hell, I'd figure." He finished his flute and set it down on a passing silver tray.
"I'm afraid I cannot chat for long, the Count is expecting me." He raised and patted the briefcase with one hand. "A few papers to sign, business stuff, you understand. But please, tell our friends 'hello' for me. I look forward to greeting them in person very soon, especially, little Oliver. Oh how I missed that poor boy. Terrible what happened to his mother, wasn't it?" He winked to her, then carried forward, slipping into the crowd like a ghost.

::Guinevere's smile was back in place at once::
Do as you wish my pet.
::She turned and spoke to herself::
So is the other side of the board choosing their Bishop? Well no matter. So long as that darkness kontinues to fester within your heart, you'll never be anything more than a pawn.

Vincent and Nahla spied the man Gwen was speaking too, but were unsure what to make of him.
"Kinda looks like a professor of sorts, has that whole book thing about him." Vincent muttered, forgetting about their, albeit, brief encounter with August years prior.
"Old friends? I dunno, oh look!" Nahla changed the subject, "More pretty party people and dancing!" She grabbed Vincent's hand and dragged him towards the dancing.

::The Herald's staff clicked once more::
Herald: Her Ladyship of Lindblum Internal Affairs, Alicia Strauss, and her sister... um.... um...
::The girl at Alicia's side glowered at the man's rather embarassing slip up::
It's Yami.
Herald: Yami.
::The four making their way down the stairs this time was a woman with azure eyes and long blond hair which today cascaded around her shoulders in ringlets. Her gown was as deep blue as her eyes with a shimmering hue, and velvet elbow length gloves. The girl she had come with had the same hair color, but was dressed far simpler in black. Only Alicia had bothered to change from her normal attire. Aizen escorted Yami by the arm, moving with such grace, no one would ever know he was blind. Melanie drew the most attention, standing at least a head taller than the rest of the crowd, dressed in her usual black attire as well::
Alicia: You two run along and have some fun.
::Even though he couldn't see it, she winked at Aizen::
Alicia: It isn't every day you get to go to a party with such a pretty young lady.
::Yami whined::
Yami: Sissy, you're embarassing me.
Alicia: Ooops, did I say too much. Well don't mind me. Just go enjoy yourselves.
::As the young pair made their way out, Alicia hung back with Melanie::
Alicia: Aren't they adorable together.
Melanie: You're disgusting. I'm going to find the booze.
::Though this proved to be an easy task for her since she too was given plenty of space to move about the dance floor::

::Upon the mentioning of Lindblum & Alicia, the others hear glass break close to them. They looked and saw the glass Kerion was holding, now crushed under his clenched fist as his arm trembled with rage::

Oliver returned from the kitchen, carrying a cup and saucer of tea on a silver tray in one hand, a clean white cloth draped over the other. He hummed to himself as he transversed through the crowd, enjoying the menial but satisfying work, when suddenly, the Herald exclaims a most gaiashattering title. The two words, Internal Affairs, struck him like a bullet and he nearly let the tea and tray slip from his grasp as he froze stone dead.
"My gods..." He muttered softly, "T'ey found me. Iole!" He yelped. In that moment, the plan become null and void for him. He set the try down quickly on a table, to the protest of the guests and took off quickly through the crowd, pushing his way past guests. He darted into the back of the house, through the kitchen, ignoring calls from the maitre d' to bring more food and drink out. He rushed back stage, desperately looking for Iole. He called for her, but did not know where she was. He begun checking doors.

(OOC: Going to auto Kenny for a bit here. Hope he doesn't mind)
::Lillith's relief that Oliver had not heard the announcement or seen the man came out as a sight as she let go of her husband's hand and started for the bar::
I'm going to get a drink.
Kenny: You told me you quit!
I lied. Be right back.
::She slipped quickly to the bar, weaving her way through the crowd and didn't even bother with any formalities before grabbing the nearest bottle of whiskey and raising it to her lips. She guzzled a good sized drink, set it back down and turned to the one next to her::
Pretty dull party eh?
::It was a good thing she didn't have the bottle in her hand because she would have dropped it. The woman next to her was head and shoulders above the rest of the crowd with a thick build, long brown hair and warm brown eyes. But there was no way it could be who she believed she was, no matter how low the odds of another person sharing those features::
Melanie: You alright Miss?

Oliver was panting as he ran into Jas, nearly hysterical. "Iole? W'ere is Iole? Internal Affairs, need." He collected himself. "Jas... right? I need to find Iole immediately."

"T'anks!" Oliver exclaimed and quickly rushed past Jas without another word, plowing through the door quickly. "Iole! Internal Affairs, te'y're 'ere! We 'ave to go, now!" When his hysterical gaze finally fell upon Iole, the fear suddenly melted as he was memorized by her. "Wow... ye look amazing tonig't."

??: How kind of you to leave the party. It wouldn't do for a woman of my stature to be seen consorting with your kind.
::There she was, exactly as he remembered her, haven't having aged a single day::
Alicia: So nice to see you again Son of the Betrayer. And you've led me right to the Witch's Surrogate as well. Such a shame you had to be here as well Cetra. Oh the things I would do to these little turtle-doves.

That voice sent a chill down his spine. Like he was just touched by death itself. He shudder, dreading what he would see when he turned around. Deep down, he thanked the gods that Jas was close for him. He turned slowly, hint of fear just slightly overshadowed by his determination to look her straight in the eyes with unwavering resolve to protect who rests in his arms.
"Alicia... I see the years workin for bourgeois pig-dogs 'ave been kind to ye. W'at ye want, us or is t'is just a friend'y 'ello?"

::Alicia smirked with her blood red lips::
Alicia: As much as it would please me to mangle the girl's pretty little face while you watched, I'm strictly here for reconnaisance. So, I take it that wretched little spider got the two of you caught up in her web?

Oliver let out a low throaty growl, he already had in one hand his father's comb, the other arm wrapped tightly around Iole. Using himself as a shield between Alicia and Iole.
"Caug't in not'ing t'at concerns the 'ikes of demons suc' as ye. Now step back from her immediately, ye cur an' we can all leave 'ere peacefully. We're free people now, ye best remember t'at if ye t'ink about coming around us again. T'at war is over for us; I don't take kindly to t'e g'osts trying to haunt."

::Before Alicia or Oliver could make a move, she suddenly found a blade held against her throat by Jas:: "I suggest you leave, Astaroth. Otherwise you'll find out what its like living without a head."

::Astaroth backed away slowly with her hands up in surrender, and as she did, the mask of Alicia faded away to the blue monster she truly was::
Astaroth: The Master has forbidden me to lay a hand on you. A real shame, I've had such violent fantasies about you as well. We had guessed you would be here. You've felt it as well haven't you. The eyes of Heaven and Hell have dained to look down on our conflict. It's become clear to them that what happens here will soon effect them as well.
::She turned her amber eyes on the pair in the dressing room::
Astaroth: Just some advice from an old friend. If that bright future of yours means anything to the two of you at all, you'll remove yourselves from the board now. You must have guessed by now that this masquerade the Count has staged is just that.
