::Within the dungeon of Doma castle, there was a room meant for interrogation. Despite the gothic century interior of the rest of the castle, this room wasn't much different than one you'd find in any modern station of police force; a one-way glass window for observation, a small table with two chairs, and like the cell this particular prisoner was held in, it was brightly lit. Nyx was chained to the first chair with her interoggator sitting opposite her. A Doma castle guard stood at the door with a rifle at the ready. Stephan studied her with his odd yellow eyes::
Stefan: So... Nyx is it? Or should I call you Nicole.
::The sorceress was silent, and her face was as blank as always::
Stefan: You know my father used to tell stories of your skills as an assassin. He said you could take out six men with a single shuriken. When you failed to kill my men that day, I thought that maybe he had exaggerated.
Nyx: So he makes you call him father.
::Stefan ignored the comment. He'd guessed already that she had knowledge of his unconventional lineage::
Stefan: But then I looked at their wounds, and I saw that each one had been struck in the same non-vital spot with pinpoint accuracy. It was like a surgeon's cut. You chose not to kill them. I'm just here to figure out why.
Nyx: My Mistress disapproves of killing.
Stefan: Your Mistress? I always believed you ran away to serve the Demon Witch. Not only is she dead now, killing sounded like it was a casual pastime for her.
::Nyx just stared blankly back at him::
Stefan: Unless you're serving someone else now.
::Her only response was a blink of those odd black eyes. She barely moved otherwise. He'd found she could remain motionless for hours on end. His eyes flickered to the guard at the door::
Stefan: Leave us. Make sure we're not watched. I'd like some privacy with our guest.
::The guard acknowledged the request without a word. When he was gone, Stefan returned his attention to Nyx::
Stefan: So this new mistress of yours forbids you from killing?
Nyx: Unless it is absolutely necessary.
Stefan: You were outnumbered. Wouldn't you consider that necessary?
::She didn't respond::
Stefan: But you would rather die than risk violating your master's code, like a true Wutai. Even without their blood running through your veins, their sense of honor is strong in you.
::No reaction on the sorceress' part, but he was growing used to that::
Stefan: So, let your foes live to fight another day in favor of doing what's necessary for your own survival, no matter how desperate the situation. How very noble. Does she live by this standard herself?
Nyx: If she did not heed her own beliefs, she would not be a master worth following.
Stefan: I see... It's very bold. That sounds like it takes more courage than killing. This Mistress of yours intrigues me.
::He leaned forward with his hands on the table::
Stefan: Tell me more.
::At last a reaction came from Nyx as she narrowed her eyes in suspcion::
Stefan: We're alone I promise. This is just for my own curiosity.
::This did little to soothe the sorceress' wariness of him::
Stefan: I don't mind waiting. Is there anything I can do to get you to trust me?
Nyx: Not for that.
Stefan: I see. Well if you could at least give me her name, that would suffice. I promise that's all I want.
::Nyx may as well have been made of marble for all the company she gave him::
Stefan: I don't mind waiting. I can wait all day if you like.

::Within the throne room of Doma Castle, four men bathed in the moonlight that filtered through the grand windows. Two stood on either side of the chamber as sentinels to the throne, while one stood before them with his arms folded. The last was seated on the throne, overlooking them all with smoldering red eyes::
Guard: Stefan, the Count will see you now.
::Stefan scoffed::
Stefan: Why all the formalities so late Dad? It's just us.
::The man on the throne ignored the question, answering it instead with one of his own::
Been to the dungeons lately my son?
::His voice was low, barely above a whisper as it wafted from the ancient soul that resided within the shell he wore, but somehow it was as if the castle itself rumbled when he spoke. And despite all of his bravado, Steven found his amber gaze on the grand carpet he was standing on::
Stefan: Only to ask a few more questions.
She won't speak to you. What more can you expect talking to a shell? You're spending far too much time with that Witch.
Stefan: I just... I had to know.
::He felt his father's gaze question him::
The dream again?
Stefan: Ever since the Witch told me about the one she serves, that girl has come into my dreams every night.
::Stefan's face flushed with heat. He had never wanted to mention this to his father. Never wanted to reveal what he had seen, what he had felt for the elf-eared girl with night-black hair and sparkling blue eyes. How she had touched him, how he had touched her, and how he could not help thinking of her even when she was awake. It was Nyx's master. He was sure of that, and now more than ever he knew he had to meet her. How he'd wished he could have kept this from the Count. But at the end of the day, he was still a part of his father, and he could keep nothing from him::
The Witch has power over shadows. Over the night. How are you certain it's not her sending you these dreams? Playing with your head. She is a traitor to us. Nothing from her can be trusted.
Stefan: No it's more than that. It's...
Stefan!
::The man on the throne brought his fist down on the arm rest, making an indentation in the fine marble it was carved from, and in spite of himself, Stefan flinched::
The Harvest Moon ball is only three days from now. Our Legacy, everything we've worked for is at stake. You can't afford to be distracted. Have you forgotten what we are trying to create?
Stefan: ::sigh:: No.
What was that?
Stefan: No Father. I have not forgotten.
Then you will retire to bed now, and from the morning on I will hear no more of this fantasy of yours, am I clear?
Stefan: Yes Father.
::The night air rapped against the mighty stone walls of the castle, making an eerie whistling sound. The man on the throne let out a long deep exhale::
You have my leave to go.
::Feeling defeated and mortified, Stefan turned heel and left the grand hall. Once they were alone, The Count dismissed the guards and spoke to the shadows::
Kamikaze.
::His Wutai retainer appeared at his side from the darkness, his face hidden behind his mask::
Is there any truth to what he speaks? Who is this new master Nicole serves?

"Indeed it is true my lore." Kamikaze replied. "Her name is Iole Blakeney, a shapeshifter, and the former ward of the demon witch Natalia."

::In the moonlight, the top half of Count Sigismund's face was shadowed over, making his red eyes glow eerily in the darkness as he stroked his beard with his long claw-tipped fingers::
Her. As if my defeat, my long years of imprisonment were not enough, now her daughter comes to claim my son? Why does she torment me so? Even from beyond the grave she is trying to obstruct my vision of the future.
::His eyes narrowed, making them look like two sparks of flint::
Well no matter. Things are already set in motion. There's nothing the little one can do to stop me, no matter the sort of twisted game she's playing. A shapeshifter you say... What else can you tell me about this girl?
::Meanwhile, in the brightly lit confinement of her cell, Nyx cupped her hands together. It took careful precision not to allow any sort of light in the crevice where her hands met, and the darkness within wasn't much to work with, but it was sufficient to create something. He would be coming soon, she didn't have much time. Since she had begun sharing small amounts of information with him, he had begun to come alone in hopes of learning more. She'd told him little things; what she liked to wear, her favorite color, her favorite flower, nothing intimate at all. But these small scraps of information had gotten him coming back every evening for the entirety of her imprisonment here. She heard his footsteps. He was alone. He was coming up to the bars of her cell::
Stefan: Nyx, we need to talk. My Father's forbidden me from coming to see you anymore--
::He gulped in surprise as her hand shot out from the bars, grabbing him by the collar and pulling him roughly against it. In her other hand she had a senbon needle held precariously in front of his eye::
Nyx: That's alright, I was just leaving. Turn off the lights.
Stefan: Now Nyx, this really hurts. I thought what we had was special.
Nyx: The lights. I'm getting out of here with or without your help. It's up to you whether you leave this dungeon or not.
Stefan: You really think you can kill me with that little needle of yours?
::She pressed it against his throat, tickling his main artery::
Stefan: Alright, point taken. I'd be willing to help you out on one condition.
Nyx: You're in no position to be making conditions, now turn off the lights.
::Stefan's face fell, that cocky smile fading completely at the possiblity that he was about to lose his one link to the girl in his dreams::
Stefan: Nyx, I'm begging you. Please. Just... give me her name. That's all I've wanted this whole time.
Nyx: And I told you I would die first.
Stefan: That's a very real possibility if Kamikaze finds out about this.
::A flicker of something floated across her face. He couldn't be sure what it was, but it was a rare instance of expression from her::
Nyx: Sensei is here?
Stefan: Been here for awhile now. Can't imagine why he wouldn't come and visit. You're such pleasant company... Nyx please. She doesn't have anything to fear from me, you have my word.
::She caught it then, the movement of his eyes. The control panel for the lights was mounted on the northeast wall. With one well placed throw, she could be gone from this place::
Nyx: You really want to know who my mistress is, I can tell you this much. She has will like iron, and she never runs from a fight.
::Then with a flick of her wrist, her senbon needle shot through the air, piercing the control panel. It de-materialized quickly, becoming long whisps of shadow that snaked their way into its system. It sparked, and Nyx's strange black eyes were the last thing he saw before the it all went dark::
::In the throne room, the stone gargoyles mounted throughout the castle seemed to spring to life and screech. It was a bloodcurdling scream that burned the ears. The count turned to the assassin::
The dungeons. Quickly, get down there! Stop her!
::As his name would suggest, Kamikaze was swift in his flight to the dungeons. But he wasn't swift enough. He made it to the cell just as the lights were restored. The Ronin Witch was nowhere in sight. In her place, sitting on the cot of the cell looking dejected and slightly embarassed, Stefan waved to him::
Stefan: Fancy meeting you down here.

""Kamikaze facepalmed as he saw Stefan where Nyx would of been:: "Lord Sigismund is going to be very displeased..." ::He moved quickly, trying to catch up with the sorceress before she got out of the city limits::

::Stefan clung to the bars and watched Kamikaze race out::
Stefan: Uh... you want to let me out of here?
::Though at present, Stefan wouldn't have minded prolonging facing his father after this incident. There was no answer. Kamikaze was long gone::
Stefan: Guess not.
::He plopped down on the cot, defeated::

I'll let him stew in that cell until I return. Kamikaze thought as he met the cool night air, fallowing Nyx's path, trying to catch up to his former ward.

::The night air whisked through his ears as he pushed himself faster and faster, because the scent of the trail was getting weaker. Just as he was about to leave the city's limits, he stopped. She had crossed through a grove of trees where the moonlight couldn't touch. And from the shadows the trees cast, she had spread a number of false trails, tangling and intertwining with the real one she had taken. He had trained her well::
Leave her.
::Their had been no sign of his master's approach. He had simply appeared. His long dark hair blew in the night breeze and his red eyes reflected the moonlight::
I have a feeling we'll be seeing her soon enough.
::In the darkness, the Count's angular teeth caught the moonlight as he grinned::

"As you command my lord." he replied as he knelled before Sigismund before he vanished from sight.
