In the skies above the ruins of the research lab.
"Captain, how goes the reconstruction of the research facility?"
"Everything is going as scheduled. The explosion did a number on the interior. We're lucky most of it remained intact despite the flooding it endured when the explosion cut a hole in its hull. But I'm afraid we cannot recover the research data, it was lost in the explosion."
"The lost data is of no consequence. My only concern is getting the facility back in working order for my ends."
"Understood. And here's something else I should report. Our divers also found what looks like the remains of an airship. ::Looks to one of the crew:: Place it on the screen. ::The image of a airship, torn in two by explosions is shown:: As of now, we have no idea who the ship belonged to, nor what it's name."
"Captain. It seems you stumbled upon the Variola."
"THE Variola? The ship used by The Order? I thought it was lost."
"It would seem we now know of its fate, but how did it wind up like this is a mystery. No matter, my armada could use another ship. Have your divers check it out. I'll have a retrieval team set out to bring it to the surface and back to base for possible repairs."
"Understood sir. I'll have the divers check it out and be on stand-by."
"Do keep me informed captain. If the Variola can be repaired and made operational, I might promote you to Commander."
"I will not fail you sir."
"See that you don't."

BEEP BEEP BEEP!
Comm. Operator: Captain, we're getting a call.
Captain: Put it on screen.
::The image shows a masked figure::
??: Captain Campbell, it's good to see you.
Captain: Kamikaze... What honor do I have to speak to you?
Kamikaze: Our lord sent me along with the retrieval ship Savage to get the Variola. I'm also here to inspect the facility while I'm here and make sure everything is going on schedule.
Captain: Understood, I'll let my men know your coming inside.
Kamikaze: Don't, I prefer to make this a surprise inspection.
Captain: No offense, but my men don't like surprises.
Kamikaze: I'm afraid you have no choice sir. You should know the risks of defying someone that's a personal servant to him...
::The captain growls before giving in::
Captain: Deal.
Kamikaze: And we haven't forgotten our original agreement. After we're sure the Variola can be repaired and when the Research Facility is up and running, we'll be starting our expansion.
Captain: So, he's stepping up the take over of the Outer Continent. You do know that the Black Mages, The Genomes and the Dwarves will not give up so easily.
Kamikaze: We do know, but our lord already has a plan all set up. As soon as the Outer Continent is ours, we'll start with the Forgotten Continent next and give you Ispen Castle as payment.
Captain: That will be an easy task seeing as the Forgotten Continent is all but uninhabited aside from a few Moogles.
Kamikaze: Indeed. But your men will still have to help with the palace construction that'll not only be above the original Desert Palace, but also serve as the main base of command for the empire.
Captain: I know, but if I may ask, if we're only setting our sights on one world, why build a base in this one?
Kamikaze: Our conquest won't end just because we conquered one world. That's why we're having bases built in each world, the Research Center here will be a temporary base until we find one more suited. Others are being sought as we speak.

::Hours later::
Kamikaze: So far so good captian. Everything is in order here.
Captain: Glad to hear it. But there has something that's been bugging me.
Kamikaze: What is it?
Captain: You said our master has his sights sent on conquest, starting with the Gaia world.
Kamikaze: That's our intention. Is there a problem?
Captain: Only one. Fallow me back to the Darken's command room. ::After getting in:: Display the map. ::A full 3-D image of Gaia's world appears:: You said you would be starting with the Forgotten Continent after taking over the rest of the Outer Continent. But, there's one place your master might have some trouble with.
Kamikaze: Point it out. ::Watches as the hologram turns before the captain points the city out:: Burmecia? Why should we be worried about a city that's nothing but ruins?
Captain: Because something alive still lurks in those ruins. I heard many have tried to explore the city, almost none of them came out alive. One time, I sent a scout team consisting of ten of my best crew to see what can be salvaged. Only one came back alive, white as a sheet and shaking as violently as a leaf in a hurricane.
Kamikaze: What did he say?
Captain: He said they were seperated upon landing. Upon exploring, he said he felt something watching him. We couldn't establish contact because our communications were somehow jammed. He found the first one, impaled on what appeared to be a spike. He found two more, looking like they killed each other from friendly fire. 3 were found also killed, their necks snapped from a fall they suffered. Another commited suicide with his own weapon. He found two more and they tried to escape, but one of them became insane and had to be killed. During their escape, he claimed the last one was devoured by darkness as they got close to gate. Once he was out, our communication was reestablished. We picked up up, but caught sight of a creature.
Kamikaze: Quite a tale, did he say he got a glimps of the creature?
Captain: Sadly no. We found him the next morning dead. Our doctor had ruled it a heart attack. We sent a probe into the city to see if we can verify his story.
Kamikaze: And did you?
Captain: I wish we hadn't. But what puzzled me is when we had the probe do another sweep, the bodies were gone. Not long after that, it felt as if something was using the line we had with the probe to pull the ship into the city. It took nearly everything we had to pull back and prevent from crashing. When we later investigated the line, the probe was torn from it, and you know how strong that cord is.
Kamikaze: There's something rotten in Burmecia.
Captain: That would be why I would advise not going after that city.
Kamikaze: Our caution is noted, but I think lord Nu will handle that city. Only way someone can overcome fear is with power.

::The doors to the room open up as a young boy steps in, a blindfold over his eyes::
Boy: ::Bows on one knee:: Lord Kamikaze, the Variola has been raised. From what the crew said, it's still operational. The hull will need some work to fix however.
Kamikaze: Good job Aizen.
Captain: Who's the kid?
Kamikaze: Oh, excuse me. In my hast I forgot to introduce him. ::Looks to the boy:: You may rise. ::Looks back to the captain:: His name is Aizen, a summoner and a fellow servant of his. Don't let his looks fool you.
Crew #1: ::Snickers:: And what need would he have for a blind person.
::Next thing he knows, a blade is held against his neck from the boy as he wasn't even looking::
Aizen: Choose your next words more carefully. I may be blind, but I'm not defenseless.
Kamikaze: Aizen! Stand down!
Aizen: As you wish mi'lord. ::He moves the nagata away from the crew member's neck:: I'll be back inside the Savage, all we need is your word to go. ::He walks back out the door and out of sight::
Kamikaze: I think its time we got going. It's been a pleasure speaking to you Campbell.
