::The chatter outside in the courtyard as well as the entrance hall is growing steadily louder and more expectant. The doors have been opened and the crowd of students lingers between the inside and the outside where strings of lights have been strung around the pillars (lovingly by Rose of course). But all Julie... or rather Anya can do is listen as the throng of anxious students gets louder. The door to her dorm opens and she starts before seeing it's only Lillith::
You almost ready? Hey relax, don't look so nervous. This is your night after all.
::Easy for her to say. Julie remembers vaguely Lillith saying something along the lines of how she enjoys big events, but she can't stand it when they're about her. Of course Lillith would understand her anxiety::

((OOC - I'd kick you for writing Julie, except you pretty much hit it dead on... and it still sounds like Lillith's perspective. Good job. )) :: Julie - Anya, she reminds herself - just keeps fidgeting in front of the mirror. The dress she's been given is stunning - a deep blue strapless gown with a mermaid hemline and modest center slit, that shimmers with a violet hue when the light hits it just right. Completing the ensemble is a pair of long satin gloves, open-toed heels with an ankle strap, and an ornate necklace of intertwining yellow and white gold. She even has her hair done up, with an ornamental comb holding it in place. And yet, having spent over an hour putting together the ensemble, she's hesitant to go out in it. :: "Lillith... could I possibly look any more like a sorceress straight out of a storybook? I mean, all I need is a knight in shining white armor with perfect hair and teeth standing right next to me, and, well... there ya go." :: She chuckles nervously. :: "I mean, it's gorgeous... and I really should feel like a princess. Well... I kind of am a princess, but nobody knows that. And I've never been officially presented before. Not even when I went back to Esthar..." :: She seems to suddenly realize that there's no point to her ramblings, and just takes a slow, deep breath to calm herself. ::

::Lillith herself is dressed in a trim green gown with black beadwork down the chest. The skirt goes down to her ankles with a slit down the side in an oriental fashion. Julie wasn't suprised to find that she was still wearing her black flat boots
Relax, you'll do fine. Did you do this backstage too? I thought you'd be over performance anxiety by now. Oh, I nearly forgot, Simon wanted me to give this to you. He says it's for luck.
::She pulled out a small violet flower and tied it in Julie's hair::
And think of it this way. Even if you screw up, it's not really you screwing up. It's Anya. Now just take a few deep breaths and finish getting ready. I'll announce you in a little bit, and then the worst will be over. Then you can dance, eat, drink, be merry, all that good stuff. But sorry, no alcohol. Too many underaged kids here.

:: Julie smiles, reaching a hand up to touch the flower. ::
"Aww, that's so sweet. I'll have to thank him later."
:: Lillith's mention of performance anxiety made her think back to stage performance in Deling City. Back then, it was easy to just lose herself in the character, and forget she was Julie for a little while. ::
'But... isn't that exactly what I've been doing here?'
:: The only difference she can think of is that "Anya" is less of a role, and more of an improvisation. Overlaying a made-up background onto her own personality to make the character. But, it's still a character she's playing, in a way. ::
'Okay, maybe I can do this.'
:: Following Lillith's instruction, she slowly breathes... in and out. It's the same breathing exercise she used to get over backstage nerves, and it seems to be working now. Feeling more like herself again, she chuckles at the mention of alcohol. ::
"Oh, that's a relief. I can't drink anything but a glass of wine or champagne every once in a while, anyway. Not after Treno. Just... trust me, that's the last thing I need today."

::Lillith frowned::
I'm glad you're okay with it, because it's killing me.
::She hugged Julie quickly::
You'll do great. I'll see you out there.

:: Julie returns the hug, while her impending entrance makes the butterflies in her stomach threaten to start fluttering around again. She quells them with a deep, sighing breath. ::
"Thanks."
:: She puts on a confident smile, hoping that it'll eventually make its way through her entire being. She then repeats something she's been told several times in her part-time acting career... more for herself than Lillith. ::
"Let's give 'em all something to remember."

::In the entrance hall, just near the doorway, Kate, dressed in a simple black dress bumps into Serena and Garrett::
Kate: Have you two seen Anya? I can't find her anywhere.
::Serena is dressed in a flashy gown of all shades of green with leaf patterns embroidered all along it. Her brown curls hang loosely. Garrett is in a loose white shirt and skinny black tie. His hair is gelled for once, and he doesn't look very comfortable with it::
Serena: No idea. Can't wait to see how she's dressed though.
Garrett: Do you guys know what this party is for?
Serena: Again, no idea. But whatever it is, I'm sure Kate's not dressed for it.
::Kate looks down at her plain modest black gown::
Kate: Very funny.
Serena: Anyway, we have a hard enough time keeping track of our own roomates. That reminds me, have you seen Ierys and Clive?
Kate: Not recently.
::A murmur passed through the throng of students as a light centered on the top of the stairs. Headmistress Lillith stood in the center, calling everyone to attention. She squinted her eyes::
Oh... Rose, turn it down a bit.
Rose: Sorry!
::The spot dimmed some to allow Lillith's eyesight::
As you all know, when you each reach a certain age, should you choose to do so, you may take the Leah Garden SeeD exam and pass on to SeeD-hood, becoming a permanent part of the Garden program. But being a new Garden, we have not yet had anyone of age...
::She paused for dramatic effect::
Until now. For just last night, one of our newest and most promising students went through our exam for the very first time. I'm happy to announce that she passed with full marks in an outstanding fashion, and appears before you tonight; the first official SeeD of Leah Garden.
::Lillith stepped out of the light and gestured with her hands::
It is my honor to present to you tonight; Sorceress Anya Louvel.

' Huh?' :: Julie - Anya - hadn't expected to be introduced as a sorceress. She almost missed her cue. In her sudden rush, she catches her heel on a slight pit in the floor just before coming out into view. In that moment, a wave of relief washes over her. If something was going to go wrong, at least it happened while no one could see her. She takes a moment to fix her shoe, adjusts her dress one last time, and puts on her confident smile again before stepping out into the light and giving a small curtsey. It doesn't occur to her until she starts waving to her "audience" - taking special note of Kate and the others - that she has no idea what's expected of her now. She feels like she should say something, but she's not sure what. She attempts to maintain her confidence and poise while briefly glancing towards Lillith for support. Lillith simply gives her an encouraging nod. So Anya just does what feels right in the moment. :: "Hi, everyone." :: She clears her throat and pauses briefly to collect her thoughts. :: "I, uh, know I haven't been here very long. But, one of the most important things about becoming a SeeD is that you don't just graduate and leave." :: She smiles warmly. :: "I really love to travel, and I'm sure I'll have important SeeD business and all that. But, when I am here, I'd like to spend time getting to know all of you. And if there's ever anything I can help with, don't ever feel like you can't ask." :: She pauses again to catch her breath, and her smile broadens. :: "I just wanted to take this chance to properly introduce myself. Thanks for listening... and enjoy the party!" :: Anya gives another brief curtsey and begins to descend the stairwell to what she considers a surprising amount of applause. :: ((OOC - Of course, any amount would surprise her. ))

Ierys was clapping, a small smile set on her face, a little away from the main throng. Her pink hair was tied in a loose ponytail, her bangs falling in her face as they always do. The dress she wore was simple, though still enough to make her self-concious, a black strapless that came down the just abover her knees and seemed to cling to her hourglass figure.

((OOC - For reference, I'm placing this in the timeline about a couple of weeks to a month after Anya's first night.))
:: Ierys is actually the first person Anya notices. The pink hair might have something to do with it. ::
"Ierys!"
:: She quickly walks over and gives the younger girl a light, one-armed hug. ::
"You look great! Dressing for anyone special?"
:: She gives Ierys a sly grin and a wink. It'd be fairly obvious that she's talking specifically about Clive. ::

((OOC: Gotchya.))
Ierys rolls her eyes at the thinly veiled insinuation. "You're worse than Serena." She says laughing "The way she says it, you'd think Clive and I were joined at the hip." Ierys smiles at her and subconsciously adjusts the dress. "Congratz, though"

"Thanks. I... never thought I'd actually make it."
'Never really knew I wanted it, either...'
:: She smiles and gives a twirl. ::
"But, here I am. Sorceress Anya Louvel, Leah Garden's first SeeD."
:: She sounds as if she's saying it mostly to convince herself it's all real. But, she also seems to be enjoying the attention a bit more now. ::
"After this, the rest of you had better graduate. I'm not gonna be the only one in the spotlight."

Ierys grinned. "Oh shush! You're just after someone to sing your praises."
"Definately!" She said it enthusiastically, but for a moment her smile faltered. If I'm still here to graduate..

Ierys grinned. "Oh shush! You're just after someone to sing your praises." :: Anya gasps in mock disbelief. :: "Oh, really? Well, being introduced by the headmistress and descending the stairwell to the applause of the rest of the Garden just doesn't seem to be enough!" :: Sighing, she returns to her normal demeanor. :: "It's... too much, really. But I'll have to deal with it for now." :: Misunderstanding Ierys' faltering smile, she places a reassuring hand on her shoulder. :: "Hey, you'll make it. If I could do it, you definitely can."

:: Anya places her hands on her hips, a stern look on her face. ::
"Oh, shut up already!"
:: Her expression softens again, and she clasps her hands behind her back. ::
"I'm probably the least powerful sorceress I've ever known. I'm not just saying that to be modest... I really am. But Lill- er, Headmistress Lillith seems to have a way of seeing potential in others. Like you, and Kate, Serena, Garrett, Clive... pretty much every student here."
'She's really come a long way since the Coven. I guess I have, too...'
:: She smiles. ::
"Anyway, I can't just stand here talking the whole time. Gotta go mingle. If I see Clive, I'll send him your way."
:: She gives Ierys another playful wink. ::
"Once he sees you in that dress, you'll have to fight him off for at least a week."

Ierys took Anya by the shoulders and spun her round, pushing her towards the crowded dancfloor. "Go. Eat. Drink. Be merry. Just stop talking like Serena!" She says with a laugh.

"So, what exactly is all the commotion over here?" It's Clive, approaching behind Ierys. His staff making a deafening racket. "I smelled food, so who is the party for?"
He takes a look around, seeing the people in their nice clothes. He shrugs it off, not willing admit he was awkwardly out of place. "Fanc-y-ish."

"Hardly oblivious!" He exclaims as he plops against a railing beside Ierys. "I just find its safer to be ignorant of things, keeps you out of danger. Oh wait, guess that really hasn't worked so far, oh well!"
From the corner of his eye, Clive looks over Ierys coyly, scanning her from her legs and up, then down again. He flutters his brow then focuses at the dance floor and the people celebrating.
"So..." He says awkwardly in a low whistle. "Want anything to eat or drink? I'm a little famished myself."
