I suppose I understand the plan.
::Nyx puzzles his words over for a moment in her head::
But I don't understand why they would still be hostile. The war is over. Aren't we on the same side now? It's all very confusing.
::Looking at her stare at her feet in that manner, trying to piece together the inner workings of the human (or Lemur) mind, it dawns on Vincent how young Nyx actually is. She's not the ruthless assassin he remembered, she just looked like a confused kid. Sorceress or not, her mind is still that of a troubled kid's::

"You really don't get it, do you?" Vincent shakes his head in frustration. "It's just one of those people things, ok? Called a grudge, they have a tendency to linger long past what started it. No one on board was too pleased when we fished Natalia out of the drink, she damaged our ship and all only a little time before that. Same type of situation, except... well worse, you did try to kill me after all. Doesn't sit well with a ships crew if you do something like that, specially ones of our caliber." Vincent plops down in a seat beside the table, placing his legs atop it and relaxes while fixing himself a glass of liqueur. "Anyway, Tresk has set a course for Lindblum. Miguel is on the radio, everyone else is going about their business so sit back and relax. Nothing much else to do till we get there."

But you're still taking me to Lindblum... for the Miss in spite of your... grudge. What you hold for the Miss is stronger. What is that one called?

Vincent begins to almost find this amusing from the little smile he cracks. "I suppose you could call it friendship and it's what Cherai would of wanted, Miguel pointed that out to me and I'm inclined to believe him."
The intercom comes alive with Miguel's grungy voice. "Hey, capt, getting a communication from Lindblum... ain't exactly the most official sounding but they calling for us specifically, guy on the other side says his name is Adrian... Zeph-something, want I to respond or what?"
Vincent quickly jumps from his chair and rushes the intercom on the wall. "That's the stowaway we had, the gypsy! I'll be there in a second!" He turns to Nyx. "Might want to come with me to the bridge, this making my 'bad things' sense tingle." Without a second glance, Vincent runs down the hall, heading towards the bridge.

::Nyx follows behind him breathlessly, still turning his words over in her mind::
Bad... things... sense? You mean your instincts? This... gypsy, is he a friend of The Miss?

"Yea that." Vincent slings himself onto a ladder and crawls up it, getting to the next deck. "And the gypsy is a friend of her, we picked him up a few years ago. He was following another stowaway that came onboard to raid our armory." Vincent enters into the bridge, immediately going to Miguel's station, pushing him aside to take over the radio.
"This is the captain of the Hijrah, go head." Radio:"Finally, captain, this is Adrian Zephyra, do you remember me?" "Aye, sounds like something is wrong. Go ahead." Radio: "Remember the serial killer we were following? It turned out to be August Krasnow and Rena "Echidna" Williams... also seems we were duped. That nurse... it was a woman named Guinevere. They've kidnapped Lillith and took her on board a larger airship, they headed North-east from here but I dunno where exactly. August said something about 'edge of the world', its all I know. The others left after it but the ship, I'm sure your instruments can pick, it was huge." "Alright, understood, we have someone on board looking Iole as we speak. Thanks for the heads up." Radio: "Be safe captain, this can't end well." "Don't worry, dealt with worse before in the past. Hijrah over."
Vincent hangs up the radio and turns to Miguel. "You heard that, get on the radar and the IEE, look for anything large having passed through our range." He turns then to Tresk. "Get me charts for any desolate regions away from any major shores, need to find something small and inconspicuous in any outregions."
Tresk and Miguel nod and go about their work and Vincent walks past Nyx, thinking, and takes a seat in his bridge chair. "'Edge of the world'? Nyx, got any idea, where would you take your kind if you kidnapped one?"

::Nyx's face doesn't bear any reaction to the news, she's standing close enough to her to feel her body tense::
Gwen is... alive? She was working with August? And Echidna's in on this too. A formiddable combination. They took Lily... Gwen hates Lilly, but she wouldn't kidnap her if she just wanted her dead. She's a user. She must need Lily for something. They would need to keep her isolated, but in a place where they would be able to continue their work. Some sort of facility far away from any lookouts or major population, and most likely abandoned.

(OOC: Not really sure what was supposed to happen with Dante, but I'm just going to wing it for the sake of keeping this thing moving. Also I apologize for taking control of anyone here, I'm just trying to establish that you're all here) ::Several hours after events on the Variola II::www.youtube.com/watch?v=PblcLnFKvaI::The heroes are all back in the familiar setting of The Hijrah, only as is becoming more common, this is not a happy reunion. Kerion stands in the corner brooding with Nyx choosing to stay near him, unsure of how to react to what's happening. Rainii is going over Jas' wounds, and Kenny and Lillith are sitting together. Kenny has his arm around her while she falls in and out of sleep, letting her head rest against his shoulder. Oliver is in her lap, too tired to argue about being treated that way. Iole remains in the center, clinging to the dead woman. So far, she's only let Eva come near her, who's moved the girl into her lap to stroke her hair gently. Iole's stopped crying, choosing instead to sing the lullaby Natalia had once sung to her as an ode to Rena:: Fukai Nageki no Mori, higurashi no Naku.
Sono hi wa totemo hareta hi de tsumetai kaze suikonda Toki ga biryou, isshun dake hari o tometa

Vincent, Rafee and Nahla have been in a sitting in the cargo bay discussing theories as to what happened to Dante, their sensors not showing him aboard and no other sign of his presence except for the strange gil.
Miguel has come down from the bridge to see what went on and has taken an interest in the bloody jitte, almost seeing it as a foreboding adversary. Skittishly he reaches for it.
"Miguel! Don't touch that... we don't know what its capable of." Vincent yells at him, stopping him short from picking it up. Nahla changes the subject. "Sir, what are we going to do about the body. It'll soon become toxic if we don't get it on ice." Vincent bites his lip, looking at Iole and Eva beside it. "How can I tell her?" He whispers. "She's hurting bad..." "I'll do it sir, back me up."
The two walk over to Iole and kneel close to her. "Iole, dear." Nahla says. "We have to move her, we can store the body and take her where you and Lillith want her to go, but she can't stay out like this much longer." Vincent nods. "For the safety of you all and my crew, she has to be moved."

::Iole looks up at Nahla, her face hollow. She doesn't let go of Rena, but she doesn't decide to fight them. It's when they start to move her body that she sees the piece of paper crumpled up in Rena's hand::
Wait.
::She pries Rena's fingers open, letting it fall. She opens it carefully to find that it's a page torn from her old notebook, probably the last one. But instead of those horrid drawings, she sees two words scribbled all over the page in red ink over and over with no certain pattern in size or alignment. She breaks again and starts crying anew, letting the paper fall into her lap where everyone can see the words plainly; I'm Sorry I'm Sorry I'm Sorry I'm Sorry I'm Sorry::
I'm sorry too Rena. I'm so sorry.
::Eva pulls her closer, and whispers in her ear::
Eva: It's okay girl. Let it out. Just let it out.
::Iole looks up at her big sister, speaking through uncontrolable sobs::
Did... did it mean anything? .... did I save her for nothing?... was... her life.... really not worth.... anything?
::Meanwhile as Nyx sits in the back of the room feeling utterly useless, she feels something run down her cheek that she's very unfamiliar with. She tugs on Miguel's sleeve since he's the member of the crew she knows the best and holds up the tear she just brushed away from her eye::
Nyx: Miguel... what's this?

Miguel responds to Nyx, telling her in a most perplexed and puzzled manner as to why she is inquiring, that it looks like shes crying. He then walks over to help move the body when called by Vincent.
The four crew members help carry Rena's body off to the cooler. "Mortis is kicking in..." Nahla says mater-of-factly. Miguel complains about the blood and the fact its a dead body followed by Vincent scolding him for complaining. Rafee stays quiet as they leave the cargo bay.
Oliver watches as the four carry the body out and inside him, he can't shake that eerie feeling it is seeing a corpse. "Ye tink it get easier see'in dead peop'e... doesn't." He mutters to himself with an uneasy tone.

::Kerion still stood in the back, his other eye closed as they carried Rena's body away:: At least now her tormented soul can find peace. ::Looks to the others, Eva still holds Iole as she clams down, Nyx talking to Miguel about the fact she shed a tear before he went to help with rena's body, Dante standing next to Eva, Jas was having his wound tended to by Rainii while Kyran just slept exhausted from the fights, Lillith and Kenny sitting together as Oliver was on Lillith's lap. Kerion sits to floor, his muscles sorely refusing to move as his eye closed and sleep over took him. His last thought:: Shame we have to go our seprate ways when we land, I had fun with these guys...

::Lillith just tucks Oliver's head under her chin, feeling he's seen enough bloodshed to last him the rest of his life. But Iole's question weighs heavily on her mind. Did it mean anything? Did any of their lives mean anything? Nothing made sense any sense anymore. But she had to come up with an answer, if not for Iole then at least to give her own mind some peace. Then she finds it::
It did have meaning. Iole, if you had given up on her and let her be, she wouldn't have been there tonight to save us. And... I think Rena had grown up most of her life without anyone who cared about her. But when she realized everything you went through to help her... I think she was so touched that she had to do the same for someone else. Maybe it was her way of making up for everything. I think she was truly happy at the end, knowing that there was at least one person who cared about her, and that she could do some good for them.
::Whether her words have helped Iole at all, she's not sure. The girl is going to need some time. Right now she has to keep morale up. She looks down at Oliver, and smiles, though the smile doesn't reach her eyes::
Come on you guys. I think we just need to get some rest. We're all heading to the Garden first thing in the morning.
::When the others look at her with a questioning stare, she gives them all the same smile::
Turns out, I'm a terrible legal guardian. We got so caught up in what we were doing, we missed Oliver's birthday.

:Kenny opened up his eyes as he took a small nap while sitting next to Lillith as he listened on to Lillith saying that she was a terrible guardian as he gave a small chuckle:
"I think you make a good guardian to be honest."

How about it Oliver? Would you mind coming to the Garden just once before you go back to Lindblum?

(OOC: Sorry for autoing you again Eva... this message being for the six to eight weeks it takes you to get back.)
Eva: Lillith is right baby-girl. You need some rest.
::Iole's crying has subsided now, and her sentences sound a little more coherent::
But... what are we going to do about Dante?
Eva: Don't argue with me missy. Just leave that to me. Nothing about that man can really surprise me anymore. But I'm sure he's alright... wherever he is.
::Iole nods. She can tell her big sister is lying, and that she really is worried about her fiance's sudden disappearance. Iole knows Dante wouldn't just vanish without telling Eva. But right now she knows she's of no help, grief stricken and exhausted as she is. She sniffs and looks up at Vincent::
Captain.... is my room still open?

Vincent, having just returned to the cargo-bay where everyone is still assembled, looks down to Iole and nods. "Aye, right where you left it. Natalia's old cabin" He looks up and addresses the rest. "Cabins are open to all, need to clean up and what not. First deck, just pick one. Going to have to double up on most though. Also got some food and drink in the galley on the first deck as well, not much, but all we could muster in the short-time. Should tide you through till we get to land."
