Alrighty...
Now that I'm back, I have an idea to add to Nu's imperialist conquest. Clerian, missing after he stayed behind to defend the party in Treno, will return to confront the attack on Fort Condor...
...with an army of his own. Missing for quite some time, he was left wandering and focused on a new goal: to ensure that the kind of threats that had periodically swept across the worlds could never succeed again. Along the way, he gradually gathered more and more followers, developing a small army of his own, gathered from warriors, strategists, and specialists from all the worlds he'd made an impact on.
Now, he's come back to confront the imperialist conquest, being at Fort Condor at the moment.
I don't want to give away the plot (twists abound, trust me), but long story short, the once-silent wanderer has returned at the head of his own small army. Though he appears to play the part of the savior, Clerian is no longer the simple hero he once was, and now...he has a bigger agenda on his mind.
Thoughts, anyone? Basically, it adds organized opposition to Nu's faction and gives room for a bigger storyline on either side, plus a ton of character growth.
