"So, Miss Gault, tell me. What do you see in the future for my relationship with Rick?"
Iris made a slight smile, knowing her answer may not be taken well. "My dear, I cannot take your money. Your future with Rick is quite clear. You know in your mind, heart, and soul what must be done. I sense you've argued about it with yourself for quite some time... You must tell him that his habits are unforgivable, and you have to leave him. And leave, you must. Run as far away as you can. To any place he cannot get you."
The young woman was exasperarted. "Miss Gault. No. I need you to tell me how I can make it work. I can't leave him. I love him. I have to help him..."
Iris closed her eyes and shook her head, "You cannot help him. He has sealed his own destruction. You cannot let him take you with him."
The young woman stood with a start, "I see you aren't going to help me... Well, then. I'm glad you refused to take my money before I had to refuse to pay. Good day." She walked away from Iris' table in a huff.
Iris sighed. She had agreed to be a temporary fortune teller for the Golden Saucer, but she wondered when temporary would be over. She didn't want to leave until they were done with her, but the problems brought to her were either common, trivial, or convoluted. Her last customer had been the twelfth girl today in a poor relationship. Iris sat and pondered what caused these seemingly intelligent girls to get themselves in such horrid positions. As her eyes scanned the room before her, she noted the people. Male and female, young and old, commoner and adventurer, tall and short, fat and skinny, weak and strong, confident and shy... All here to enjoy the sights, sounds, and services of the amusement park. Iris found the park amusing, too. So many personalities to observe. She decided to go for a little walk. She closed her eyes and she sent a message to her friend and manager, Coral.
[glow=blue,2,300]Coral, doll. I'm going for a short break, so don't fret.[/glow]
Iris wrote a note saying she'd be back in a few minutes and began to walk the floor.

Iris strolled along the span of the Golden Saucer. She stopped and turned to face the night abruptly. It was one of the Saucer's many open walks, so the night air fell upon her like a cool blanket. She loved that feeling. She took a deep breath, then turned her head to the left.
"Ah!"
The huge coaster full of laser-toting gamers soared by. Iris followed it's procession for the moment it was within vision. She braced herself against the force of air that blew by her. As it subsided, she rested against the railing.
"Seems unsafe. But I suppose that's what these are for."
She pushed herself away from the railing and proceeded on her walk. She passed into the hotel section and glanced up at the huge haunted house. With a smile she walked down the steps into the pipe that led to the game section. There, she found legions of fun-seekers playing to their heart's content. One particular young man seemed to be having trouble playing the submarine game. After another loss, he sighed and shoved the controls. Iris stopped next to him.
"You don't seem to be enjoying yourself."
The young man looked over at her. His face sparked with recognition.
"Hey! You're the fortune-teller over near the entrance, right?"
"That's right." she replied with an odd smile.
"Well... If you can predict the future, can you tell me when the enemy sub is going to attack me?"
Iris laughed, "I'm sorry! For me to be able to do that, I'd have to have knowledge of computer programming and algorithms. I am no mathemetician. But, as a counselor, I advise you find a game that doesn't frustrate you as much."
The young man smiled and laughed a little, "Yeah, you're right."
He stepped away from the game and looked around.
"Any suggestions?" He asked.
"Well..." Iris pondered over the games. She spotted the moogle game, "That one seems fun!"
He looked to where her eyes were directed.
"That one???" He gaped, "Well, I guess I might as well..."
She smiled, "You'll be happy you did."
He wandered off to the game and Iris left the Game center. She laughed inwardly.
He'll be especially happy when he finds out he'll win the 10,000,000th player prize... That full-year pass and 10,000 GP should make him smile. As she walked further, a siren blared behind her. Nobody knew what it was about. The contest had been a secret, known only to top Golden Saucer associates. So the shock was shared by all but Iris.

Iris had entered the battle section. She looked over the boards indicating the finest battlers to enter the saucer. She read each name with interest, thinking deeply with each statistic she took in. With no provocation she turned to the receptionist behind the counter.
"May I try?" she asked smiling.
The receptionist replied, "If you have the GP, go for it..."
Iris pulled out the pass given to her by Dio, himself.
"I've been told I can roam freely around the Gold Saucer at no charge..."
The receptionist scanned the pass, "Hm... Checks out. Alright, head on in."
Iris laughed, rather softly, then ran in the door.
Inside, Iris stood at one side of the platform and watched as the first enemy entered the room. A large motorcycle-like object rushed into the room, straight for Iris. She watched. Waited. Right as it was about to hit her, she disappeared. The motorcycle crashed into the wall that had been behind her. She reappeared in the same spot, spun around, and held out her hand and fired three energy balls. The creature recoiled at each blow. It fell limp and was removed from the arena.
"Very good!" A peppy voice exclaimed, "Now... We'll handicap you... Press the button near the door and the roullette wheel next to it shall stop and state what you shall lose."
Iris obliged. She watched the wheel... Then pressed the button.
"Wow! Lucky 7! No handicap given! Truly lucky!" The voice shouted, onto the next battle!
Two beasts were let into the arena. Iris smirked. As the first lunged at her, she spun and pulled out her sickle, delivering a chilling blow upon her second rotation. As the beast recovered from it's temporary freeze, Iris held her hand out at the other, focusing. The monster turned towards it's partner and charged it. Iris had taken control of the beasts feeble mind. They soon found themselves attacking each other. She released the beast's mind, but it continued to attack. They had determined each other enemies. The stronger of the two prevailed, but by a slim margin. Iris took aim with her bow and fired an icy arrow into the beast. Their bodies were cleared from the arena.
"Congratulations!" The voice rang, again.
Iris smiled.
Before long, Iris had finished up her eighth round. Suffering only no materia on the last round, which still amounted to nothing. She never touched the stuff. She left the arena, victorious. The receptionist applauded her.
"Amazing! It was like you knew every move before it happened! I have to admit, I had my doubts when I saw you. Thought you'd be shot into the wall. But you proved me wrong. Your total BP is 10052. How did you want to spend them?"
Iris mused over the question...
"Stardust."
Content with her victory, and her spoils, Iris left Battle square. She decided she had spent enough time having fun. I should get back to the booth. Coral's probably frantic... She laughed aloud at the thought. Coral often over-reacted to things, and Iris almost wanted to provoke it, just to see the faces she'd make.

(OOC: Thank you! I love to write them!) "Coral, doll, I'm back!" Iris had chosen the spoken word, as she could see her friend right in front of her, her face pale, her manner trembling. "It's about time!!!" Coral yelped, with more fear in her voice than anger, "You're lucky so few people came by while you were gone! If anyone had complained to Dio, we would be out of a job! Or worse! I hear that when someone crosses Dio, he sends them to the Corel prison below the saucer!!! OH! How horrid that would be! To be imprisoned after what seemed to be such a wonderful gig! I... Iris?" Iris had already sat at her booth and was consoling a crying girl. The girl, in fact, from earlier." "There, there..." Iris murmured, patting the young woman's hand, "It's all right..." Coral, caught up in one of her over-bearing moods, made her way into the conversation. For a woman of such deep, dark, soothing features, she sure offered more stress than anyone Iris knew. "What's going on?" Coral asked. Iris sighed, "Apparently, Lili here returned to her hotel room to find Rick with another woman..." "You were right, Miss Gault. I should never have given him another chance... Not after the first times..." "First times!?" Coral gasped. Iris hushed her, mentally. "Miss Gault... I'm sorry I was so rude to you. I see now you were only trying to help..." "Oh, Lili. I must admit, after seeing so many girls like you, I get a little forceful when it comes to issues like this... We all have our faults." "There's only one thing I don't understand. You said he had sealed his own destruction..." An odd smile grew on Iris' face, which quickly faded. "What?" Lili asked, demandingly. Suddenly, security rushed by, towards Hotel Square. A passel of people passed by after them. Coral grabbed a man and began interrogating. "What's going on!? What's the commotion?" The man was too excited to share his knowledge to be angry at Coral, "You won't believe it! A man was found murdered in his hotel room with a woman that the hotel manager doesn't recognize. A mistress, no doubt. The manager thought it was the fiancee until he saw the body. Rumor has it, the guy was in it deep with the mob... Not the most respectful person, if you catch my drift." The man and Coral continued to exchange rumors, while Iris consoled Lili, who had burst into tears. "Miss Gault... What will I do!? What will I do!?" She kept wailing. Iris simply took the young woman gently and said to her, "Live. That's what you will do. You will live. Wonderfully." Iris escorted Lili to her guest room, which she had been given access to by Dio, himself. Coral, for all her faults, had amazing connections.

"Why's she so shaken up?" Coral demanded as she and Iris consulted while the mournful Lili cried endlessly in Iris' room, "The guy was scum! He was nothing but trouble from her!"
"Love has played a cruel joke on this young girl, Coral. Let her get her hurting out. She needs to sort out her chaotic feelings."
Iris' face went placid, as a smile grew.
"However, this grief is heavenly. It's the strongest emotion I've felt since we've been here. Even stronger than the remorse of those who spent every last gil they had..."
Iris acted as if she had just eaten her favorite food. But in a way, she had. Her mind was feasting on the emotion that Lili jettisoned through the door. Her very sorrow, eminated like an aura. The wails grew less and less strong. Soon, the doorknob turned. Iris' face regained it's normal expression. Lili came out of the room.
"Thank you, Miss Gault... I feel better now. Thank you for letting me cry in your room."
"It's not a problem, dear... But you should go collect your belongings, if you can... I feel that you should be going home. Your family wants to see you. Don't worry. Something nice has happened. I sense a new beginning."
Lili smiled, "I think I know what you mean... New beginning..." she left the fortune teller and her manager and disappeared down the corridor.
"... Iris... Her sudden mood swing... Was that..."
Iris lauged, "Why, Coral dear, whatever are you driving at?"
Coral's eyes narrowed, ever so slightly, " You know what I'm driving at..."
[glow=blue,2,300]Yes, dear... I did have a little snack... But look what good it did. She needs that happiness. Her nephew was just born.[/glow]
Iris sat back down behind her booth. Coral just stared for a moment, then went back into the room, where she started balancing the books. Iris was lucky to have Coral. She'd never be able to keep her finances in check without her...

The night soon came to a close, and Iris was preparing to retire. She had just put away her things when a knock came at the door. Coral poked her head out of her atttached room as Iris opened the door. Dio, chairman of Gold Saucer stood before them.
"Miss Gault. You've brought much excitement to my park. I'm happy!" He started in.
"You seem it." Iris smiled, "But..."
"It's not so much a 'but', as it is an 'as a result of'. As a result of your fine work, I can say that you've fulfilled your contract. This was the last night you were to be here. I've brought your pay, and, as a bonus for your fine work, I'll pay your way to any destination you choose!"
Coral's eyes widened at the mention of the bonus. She often grew excited when she could save money.
"Why, Dio, doll," Iris smiled even bigger, "You're so sweet! Thank you so much!" She took his hands, "I always sensed a generous air about you..."
Dio smiled, nervously. Perhaps he was hiding a blush. Perhaps she had charmed the huge entreprenuer. Perhaps she just thouroughly creeped him out. Whatever the case, he soon regained his composure and wrapped up his statement.
"Just tell me where you want to go, and you'll be there as soon as you want. I can even take you to different worlds, what with the new discoveries being made..."
"My, my!" Iris exclaimed, "Aren't we up on the times? Well, nowhere as exotic as another world..."
She thought it over. Coral, who had slipped fully into the room, watched her. Don't blow this Iris... We could go ANYWHERE!
"Costa del Sol." Iris answered. Coral's jaw dropped. Dio's very nearly did, as well.
"C-costa del Sol?" he stammered, "That's so close. You could get there yourself."
"Yes, but that's where I want to go."
"Alright. It's your decision."
Coral held in a groan.
"But, I won't accept this as your bonus." Dio exclaimed, "I still owe you a trip somewhere."
Iris poked his nose, "You're so sweet."
Dio excused himself as hastily as possible.
Coral wanted to berate Iris for not asking for a more exotic location, but she had something else on her mind. Besides, that had been resolved.
"Iris... Why were you acting that way around Dio?"
Iris laughed, "Because I knew his weakness was flirtation. I love to watch people worry. You know that."
Coral just nodded solemnly.
