It's a sunny, clear day, sometime in April and the streets of the theater district are busy with activity as people go about their daily lives. Shopping, eating, working, they are the people of the merchant class here, living out their lives in blissful content. On every street here, there stands one thing that appears out of place, a soldier or soldiers. Main roads in and out of the district have a detachment of the regent's Guard, manning a check-point. They inspect papers and pat down people that cross from the other neighboring districts.
Walls and store fronts are plastered with bills, telling people to report suspicious activity. Some have names and faces on them of wanted men and women, others are propaganda about the efforts to keep everyone safe from the terrorism of the LPA.
Despite this, the people walk about as they would anywhere else, perhaps just with an air of suspicion and caution, some with frustration, and others blissfully happy.
*BOOM*
Suddenly a storefront explodes without warning, sending fire and debris into the street. People scatter and run for cover, screaming and crying.
::Hours later, many of the wounded were rushed to the nearest hospital as the dead were transfered to the moruge. The scene was tapped off as the CSI's shift through the damage for evidence::
"Have you determined what caused the blast or where the blast center is?" Kerion said as he ducked under the tape.
"Excuse me sir, but this is a crime scene. I'm going to have to ask you to step back behind the tape."
::Kerion pulls out a badge, showing he's under the order of the chief of police:: "This change your mind?"
"Sorry sir, but we can't be too careful. As soon as we find something, we'll let you know."
"Carry on then." Kerion replied as he stood to the side to let them do their job.

Dangerous folk we have running around in our city.
::Kerion hears the rythmic clicking of high-heeled shoes on the pavement as a woman in a navy blue blazer and skirt makes her way through the investigators to him. She has a fair complexion with honey-colored hair done up in a taut ponytail, and chocolate colored eyes. Her lips are heavily coated in thick red lipstick that matches her nails as well::
Of course, they're not nearly as bad as the ones leading them. That's where you come in. Forgive me, I'm Alicia Strauss, Lindblum Secretary of Internal Affairs, and personal assistant to The Captain. I take it you've already met him.

::Kerion nods to her questionbefore holding his hand out to her as she took it and shook it:: "Kerion. The cheif hired me himself to assist in his anti-terrorist squad. And from the looks of it, this city could use all the help it can get."
"Mr. Kerion, Miss Strauss, I think we found the bomb, or at least what's left of him."
::Kerion and Alicia looked to the CSI that spoke::
"Suicide bomber?"
"Yes, that's what we belive."
::Kerion sighs at the news:: "Get what's left back to the station. Lets see if we can identify the poor sap that was wearing the bomb from his remains if its possible."
"Right away sir."
::He looks back to Alicia:: "Anything like this happen before?"

I told you already, it's been like this for awhile. Dangerous people full of dangerous ideas. That's why we've come to ask for your help. The ones who lead this rabble have proven quite elusive. But your record is impressive, and we at the hierarchy of the police haven't forgotten how you and Sorceress Lillith aided us in the capture of The Autumn Harvester. So we called on your services. We need someone with cunning who can take care of these undesirables for us.

"I see..." ::Looks as whats remained is bagged and transported to the police station:: "And that would make me the right man for the job. I just want this violence to end without more lives being taken by any means necessary."

Taking lives, that's such a nasty way of putting it. I prefer to think of it as... cleaning up the streets.
::She grins and hands him a small envelope::
A down payment on your current salary. Don't worry, there's plenty more where that came from. If you return to your apartment you'll find a packet with lists of names, photos and information on your targets. Don't worry, what we're paying you will be enough to put your little girl through college.
::She grins as he opens the envelope to find a check an already sizeable amount of gil written out to him. But when he looks up again, she's gone.::

::He blinks as he looks to a empty spot and realizes what she said about his little girl:: How did she do that and I know I didn't tell anyone about Maria. I'll figure this out later. ::He pockets the envelope before heading back to his hotel room:: I got some groundwork to do.

::Back at the quarters that were assigned to him, Kerion finds a manilla envelope lying on his bed. There's a hand written note on powder blue stationary attached to it, and there's a kiss mark of bright red lipstick in the bottom right corner, serving as its only signature. It reads::
Here's the naughty list. Check it twice, Handsome.
::Inside, he finds photos and descriptions of his newly appointed targets just as Miss Strauss promised::

::Kerion studies the names and pictures of his targets very carefully:: Those that Ican apprehend might some information on their group. I'll try to keep causilties to a minimun. I'll handle the medium ones first until I work up the food chain, the low ones will not be a problem so I'll just take them out if they get in my way. I'll deal with the kill order first.
::The next morning::
::Kerion looks over the file for Pantelei Bodnarenko before placing it back on the table and walking to the door:: Time to start the hunt.
