::Deep in the recesses of August's clinic, standing in the flickering of candle light that dances around a vile creature now falling into decay and there, August himself transcribing from the book the she-creature holds open for him. Page after page of new material extracted from the Gran Grimore.::
Next page... most amazing... this book has enlarged my mind beyond anything I could ever have comprehend.
::With renewed vigor, stemming from the dark places inside him, August feverishly writes, faster and faster, all the words between the lines left unseen by the demoness.::
Now.
::He sets his pen aside as he closes the journal.::
One last thing left to do...

::Just behind August, Echidna points curiously at the decaying likeness of Rainii Loire::
But what will you do with the doll? We worked so hard to waste it all. You opened my cage to help make your toy. And now the clock's ticking for our pride and joy.

::August stays seated, facing away from Echidna.::
It was inevitable, my pet, that the creature wouldn't last. The dogs barely hang on but, don't fret, she still has a little time before the putrification renders her useless. Now is not the time, though, to concern yourself with her.
::August opens a drawer in the desk where he sits and brings out a small tape which he sets beside him.::
There's simple task for you, the emergency broadcast system in the industrial sector. Go there and play this. It won't be guarded, all automated. Put it and press the button, rest will play out.
::With the tape in hand, Echidna sets out.::
Hear my siren, Lillith, and come to the rocks.

::Echidna takes the tape excitedly and scurries off to do August's bidding. She returns about half an hour later, grinning like she was just let in on the funniest joke in the city::
The tape was played, the deed is done. You should let me out more, it was so much fun. But I want to play before we run.
::She looks behind her toward the entrance of the lair::
The captain is smart for the head of a pig. He'd be better if his ego weren't so big. He tracked the signal to my very spot, and now behind me the trail is hot. But don't worry for he comes alone, with weapons in hand and help from none. He wants to make you pay, and now he comes to our lair to play. What shall we do with our unwanted guest? Is it time for play, or time for rest?

::August takes up his broken dagger, digging the shattered blade's tip into the index finger of the other hand till a single drop of blood pools at the tip.::
We play, of course. He'll walk in and we'll spring the trap, the net will drop and our precious Captain Ames will feel the sting and after the nightmare he'll be ours. The bait for the vultures, with the smell of death they'll be close behind and then our months of work will be at an end.
::He twirls the dagger with one hand and stabs it into the wooden table top beside his journals.::

The makeshift clinic is dark and appears abandoned when Ames takes cautious steps inside. In one hand he holds his pistol, and in the other he holds a launchable tazer. Underneath his coat is two pairs of handcuffs and multiple syringes of assorted drugs. He had recently aquired them after he learned of a scientific breakthrough in the form of suppressants that could block a sorceress' power. How strange that the only ways the wretched and feared women could be dealt with at first were so convuluted and impractical as launching them into space. And now they could be subdued by a simple injection. Technology certainly is a wonderful thing. With both weapons held in front of him, Ames is prepared for anything. At least that's what he thinks. But the clinic is so eerily silent that it seems to negate even the daily noise of the crest outside. A droplet of sweat forms on his forehead and he has to wipe it away before it drips down his face. His heart was racing. In mere moments he would have August and the woman who was his accomplice. He had guessed he needed someone with more powerful magical capabilities to help him with whatever perverse ritual he was attempting. And it had escaped his attenton before, but quite recently his team of pathologists had discovered that every victim found had been a sorceress. But how could he have known the true nature of these women, most of whom hid their abilities like that burmecian's mother. Unless he had another sorceress who was able to find them for him. Not even Sorceress Lillith had put that bit of evidence together. And today he would be talked about all through Lindblum as the man who brilliantly solved the case and caught the Harvester and his witch single handedly. He would be remembered for this. After years of clawing his way to the top, he would be a hero.

::A sharp crack sounds in the clinic, echoing through the clinic which is now completely dark. Not even the way Ames came in can be seen anymore. The only light is from a bright lamp like the kind in a surgical room that glares off the Captain's face:: The Doctor will see you now. www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTYwkFoMeYY::Echidna's shrill voice rings over the deathly quiet. Instinctively, Ames points his weapons at her to find her dressed in a very skimpy short skirted Nurse's uniform. Even beneath her surgucal mask he can see her broad twisted grin. And even more frightening, in her hands is a handheld buzz saw::

::Ames retreat is blocked by another foul creature, two infact, that growl maliciously. A quick glance over his shoulder reveals many sets of iridescent eyes. Strange dog eyes no doubt, queerly spotted in the darkness. Footsteps next followed by the metal jingle of a light cord, flash, and the hallway behind him lights up revealing a most frightening and chilling sight. Standing tall is August dressed in a rubber or perhaps vinyl double-breasted butchers coat with long sleeves and rubber gloves. Yet, beside him is the truly morbid entities, dogs but with one distinct difference, that being other canine body parts - arm, legs, other dogs, sewn into the body of one creating multi-limbed and head beasts. They drool blood and and bile and whine in pain and confusion.::
I'm glad you heeded my summons, Captain Ames. I hope everything is to your liking?

::Ames' head spins from both his adversaries as they close in on him. Echidna starts to circle him, firing up the buzz saw in her hands::
You dug too deep. Time to sleep.
::In a sudden jerky movement, she swings the saw down on the arm holding the tazer. His hand, still gripping his weapon falls to the ground while the bloody stump he's left with starts to fountain blood to the ground. However something is wrong with his blood. It's too runny and watery, and its color is too light. Echidna tilts her head at him while he screams, dropping his pistol to cradle his maimed appendage::
Something's wrong with the Captain's blood. It runs like water, not like mud.
::She turns theatrically to point her blood stained white-gloved finger at August::
Doctor, diagnose!

((Not sure what you mean exactly, so I'll take a stab at it))
::August steps closer, kicking Ames's bloodied pistol away and along the slick floor. He leans down and grabs Ames by the hair, jerking his quivering head up. The butchered dogs fly past August and go at the arm like scraps fallen from a dinner table.::
Looks to be arterial, he'll bleed out in minutes at this rate but I have the cure less you be the one on the concrete below.
::He raises a syringe filled with a foul looking liquid in its reservoir and teases it in front of Ames's face.::
It's quick, it's clean, it's pure. It will change your life, rest assured. It's the modern cure.
::He taps the needle on Ames's head.::
No time to wait for patient approval, best fix it now. Hold still.
::August tightens his grip on Ames's hair as he exposes the man's neck. The needle perices the captain's flesh and plunges down, liquid disappearing into the body. August lets go and Ames collapses to the bloody floor.::

(OOC: He's anemic. It's going to make what's in that syringe work much faster. Like I said, it's hard to rhyme sometimes)
::Ames howls in agony and writhes on the floor. Back in reality, Echidna and August stand over him in a darkened empty clinic, both dressed in their usual attire. Echidna frowns at the pathetic shell of what used to be Captain Ames that writhes on the floor, cradling his hand which is actually still attached to his arm. His weapons lie just beside him, but even if he could see them, he's lost the will to use them::
This is no fun. It was too easy, our work's already done.
::Ames looks from one attacker to the other horror, but becomes nothing short of petrified at what he sees next. In between the two, looking down on him with those blank glowing topaz eyes that sit above a rotting muzzle is the King in Yellow. The King cranes his head lower so his face is plain as day for Ames who starts screaming. Neither August nor Echidna seem to notice The King; August because he can't see him, and the mad sorceress because she's grown so accustom to his presence. Echidna loses interest in the Captain's slow death and turns her attention back to the stoic and unstable copy of Rainii Loire, the Book of the Twilight still resting on her outstretched palms::
Now our problem, what of the book? If our pet is dying, that might be our last look. Lady was cunning, Lady was wise, to touch it ourselves could mean our demise.

((OOC: Drat should of guessed that, also have to retype this, damn window))
::August lightly kicks Ames in the ribs, the only movement is the force from August's kicks::
He's out, pity. Would think that a man such as the good Captain would have stronger will. Oh well, I wipe my hands of it, he's the Kings problem now.
::He instructs the rotting construct to place the book down upon the table where he had been writing earlier. The book crashes to the table top, causing the ink well to jump and fall off the table to the ground.::
We leave it, I am afraid. Time and circumstance are against us right now but, I have what we need and then some. Come, we have a date with The Hook Gang, we'll loose our trail on the docks. Ames and the dogs will stay behind to greet our friends when they come knocking, the book will be their reward should they survive, a small token to comfort their souls.
::August grabs a black bag from the corner of the room, approaches the table, and slides everything he has been writing into its black void along with some other tools and strange oddities then, with a jolt of his head, motions for Echidna to follow.::
Come, we flee before it is too late.

::Echidna kneels down by Ames who's ceased screaming and remains muttering incoherently. She smiles wickedly as her forked serpentine tongue flicks out from between her lips and runs sensually up and down his face::
And now you sing your praises, praise the King through your sad mazes. Left or right, fight or flight. Whatever it brings, I know you will sing.
::She gets back to her feet. The last thing Ames hears before that madness sweeps over his conciousness is the clicking of her heels as they dash across the pavement to escape, and the shrill mad cackle of the King's Songbird::

Adrian takes one step inside and quickly holds his kaffiya close to his nose, the putrid stench of dried blood tingling his senses.
"This place is a tomb." He whispers under his breath. "Could be trapped, lets be vigilant."

There's low growling in the darkness as they pass from the front room to another darkened room, only lit by a single candle dripping from a perch in the center of the sickly place. It feels entirely deserted from human life, as if the place sucked the very life out of anyone who crossed between its tiled walls. The growling however, grows greater the farther in they go.
"Did August like... pets?" Adrian asks with Ashi poking her head out from under the kaffiya, making a piercing hiss into the darkness. "Shh, quiet girl, we know."

"Yeah, yeah it's..."
::She pauses, trying to figure out the direction in which the book is pulling her. She feels it tugging her into the room beyond, forcing her forward. ::
"This way."
::She steps forward a little more cautiously, eyes constantly focused forward, on the dark. She mumbles to herself, words that sound like, "And I am getting my book back."::
