(OOC: Once Eva gets her letter from Natalia, she's going to find out where Iole went. This is really just for anyone who wants to say goodbye to the little shape-shifter before she sets out on her own)
::Iole stares into the gate with her wide blue eyes::
So this is the gate Auntie came through huh? I wonder if I can get to where she came from.
::Freya, Natalia's home world. She hadn't told Iole much about it, but what she had divulged sounded beautiful. She had even learned that there was a tribe somewhere in its forests with powers just like hers. She had dreamed about this ever since the day Natalia had sent her away::
::Iole enters her room hesitantly. Natalia is seated on her bed looking out the window. Lillith appears to have calmed the fire that Clive started and called off her storm. Iole can barely hear the Inquisition take to the skies with the rest of her family on board. The moonlight now creeps through the window, the only source of light in the room at the moment::
Auntie? You wanted to see me?
::Natalia doesn't move. Only pats the part of the bed next to her::
Nat: Yes dear. Come and sit by me please.
::Iole creeps closer to her and seats herself next to the sorceress::
What is it Auntie?
::Natalia pulls the girl close and strokes her hair gently. Though she wants to be strong right now Iole can feel tears breaking through her eyes. She knew what this was about::
Nat: Iole, you know where you're going tomorrow don't you?
Yes Auntie. I didn't forget.
Nat: That's my good girl. You've been so brave so far. I just need you to be brave for a little longer. The job I gave you is very important. Just be strong and remember everything I taught you.
I understand, but why do I have to leave the mirror behind?
Nat: Because for now you must stand on your own. Where you're going I can't help you. You must be strong for me dear one.
::Iole sees something she never thought she’d see, and something she hopes never to see again—the sight of her Auntie crying::
Please don’t cry Auntie. I’ll be strong. I promise.
Nat: I know you will. My sweet brave little girl, I know you will.
::Iole smiles up at her through the tears. To Natalia it is undoubtedly the most beautiful sight to ever grace her eyes. Iole looks down::
But… do I have to be strong tonight?
Nat: ::smiles:: No. Tonight you don’t have to be.
::Iole rests her head against Natalia who gathers her up and holds her close, singing that strange lullaby she had become unable to sleep without.
( www.youtube.com/watch?v=8e5HXLegG8k ) Unknown to her is that Natalia held her long after she fell asleep. The next morning Iole takes to the skies in her winged girl form so as to be able to carry the knapsack of essentials Natalia had packed for her. She clings tightly to the rose of pure ice around her neck. As she flies she swears she will be strong and not cry even though deep down she knows she will never see the only mother she has ever known again::
::Iole fingers the rose of ice around her neck, and this time she can't deny that she's terrified. Not of what lies ahead for her, but what she's leaving behind. Eva, Rainii, Dante, Kenny, Julie, even those she hadn't known for very long like Galeon and Lillith are hard to think about. She balls her hand into a fist and wipes her tears away angrily. She starts poking around the apparently dormant gateway, trying to find anything that stands out. When she doesn't find anything, she kicks it::
How am I supposed to turn this on?!
