Clerian's eyes widen as he watches Rainii fall. "No..." he thought to himself, "No...no...no...no..."
It felt like some sick nightmare, but he wasn't waking up from it. It was all real. He closes his eyes and grips his gunblades tightly, turning to Sands. As he opens his pure-white eyes, a tear streams down his cheek. It was a tear of sorrow...regret...and rage.
Clerian gives out a roar of anger and pain before charging Sands. He uses his momentum to deliver a disorienting punch to the self-proclaimed conqueror's chest. After that, the ex-SeeD wastes no time in following up on his assault, as if his mind was deciding his next move before he knew it. He charges his gunblades with fire and wind elemental energy, delivering a rising vertical slash followed almost instantly by a horizontal slash.
"Heaven and Hell!" Clerian yells, completing his Limit attack by slicing down with both gunblades simultaneously.

Ugh...me and my mistakes...why wont I LEARN from them?
::She only faintly recognises that it's Airlia who's holding her, and is instantly glad she's there.::
Maybe I was wrong about her...she was never anything but nice to me...And I? I doubted her. Does that make me a bad person?
::The world around her seemed much softer than it had a few moments ago--muted colors, muted sound--she liked this version much better, she had to admit.::
All I wanted...was to prove to everyone and everything that I wasn't the helpless 'girl-president' that hung around with three of the greatest heroes ever known. That I was their equal.
And then I go and get myself killed. I think.
What is going on, anyway?
::Rainii strains to hear the battle going on around her, as the muted scenery grows darker, and the sounds of the world around her much more quiet..::

I'm sorry, I strayed from my training. I was weak. I left when they needed me the most and went on to other things only to forget the basis on which I was taught.
:Airlia concentrates, her head is spinning and she feels like she is going to puke:
Sure the offensive magic was great, but thats why he stressed defense and healing. Please hold on...
:Airlia releases Rainii and passes out. The pain is still there, but the wound is healed. A fatal wound was averted on her first successful attempt on a life spell. However such spells aren't learned and perfected on the spot. The energy exerted takes it out of her:
[glow=green,2,300]I knew you'd be fine....[/glow]
:Its the voice again:
[glow=green,2,300]Rainii, the end is near! Try to concentrate...don't slip away...[/glow]
:Her rings from Infinity glow, calling to her:

:Sands crashes back through the huge tank behind him. The attack from Clerian was even worse than his first. Sands slams into it with great force knocking him out. The liquid from the canisters seep out on the floors and the hum from the scientists above grows more loud. Sands defeated? What about Cyrus?:

You...and your orders...
::She concentrates on the rings as hard as she can, resisting the urge to let go and sleep.::
::The light coming from the rings cuts through the current darkness. It begins to bring everything back in to color and focus. It pains her to open her eyes, and everything seemed much to loud. Obnoxiously loud. She was still in a great deal of pain.::
"C...clerian?....Air...lia?"
::Her voice is just a whisper, and she's not entirely consious yet. She keeps concentrating on the rings, trying to shake off the few remaining holds death had on her.::
Can't let go.

:Bodies are scattered around. Airlia lies to one side of her passed out and the bloodied corpse of Chambers to her other side. In the distance is the disasterous wreck, Sand's hand hangs off from the edge, but nothing more is seen. The room creaks eerily and the scientists start to shuffle out:

Clerian drops to a kneeling position as he returns to normal. His blue eyes fade back in, still intent on Sands. He's breathing heavily after the strain his body was under, but he's still going.
Sands was beaten, but Clerian wasn't done yet. Whether Sands was dead or not, Clerian was still trying to find the strength to get up and take his gunblades to Elias' black heart. But no...it was too hard at this point to hold himself up much less lift one of his gunblades and attack with it.
Though his sore muscles protested, Clerian left his gunblades on the ground to make his way over to the unconscious Airlia and Rainii. He fell once more to his knees, pressing his fingers gently against Rainii's neck to check her pulse. "Alive..." he sighed.
Turning to Airlia, he saw her chest moving as she drew breath. "Alive..." he repeated, quietly thanking Airlia in his own mind. It was clear that Airlia was the one watching over Rainii.
Seeing Chamber's lifeless body, Clerian closed the dead soldier's eyelids and brought the man's gun closer to his body.
Finally, he had regained a bit of strength. Enough to stand and move without pain, at any rate. Looking over the dead Chamber, unconscious Airlia, and wounded Rainii, Clerian was filled once more with a hate for Sands. This time, however, it wasn't going to be an issue.
Returning to his fallen comrades, Clerian knelt beside them, intent on staying with them. Turning up to the slowly shuffling scientists, he said, "Go...all of you...while you still can. Go and be thankful I'm sick of death for today."

"Thats good you're sick of death today."
:The voice makes Clerian sick to his stomach. He turns around to see Sands standing in front of the destruction. The room continues to echo, a moaning and creaking. Sands steps forward, dragging his blade. Blood covers his body, his boots squeek from the clear liquid he climbed out from:
"I'm not finished."

"Ugh..."
Clerian keeps his eyes toward Sands, but glances at Rainii out of the corner of his eye. "I won't let you die."
Using Aero magic, he creates a gust of wind that blows across his gunblades - sliding them to Clerian. Wearily, the ex-SeeD picks them up and assumes a dueling stance.
"I guess I'll have to finish you then," Clerian concluded, staring grimly at Sands. One of them would die here, and if Clerian died, so did the others. That meant there was only one option...
Clerian stood still, awaiting Sands.

The shadows behind Sands silently take shape. Zion holds his flaring blade poised to strike. The shadows speed his strike as he aims for the neck and a quick kill. Intense concentration fills Zion's eyes. He, by no means, believed this would end it. He was already planning his next move, his next defense or attack. The wilds had taught him well. A kill was only sure when it was confirmed, not a second before. He had been hiding in the shadows waiting for this moment to strike. His patience had, apparently, rewarded him.

:Sands ducks the attack. He still had not lost his keen sense of situations. He spins back around and drives his blade into Zion:
"I'm not going to fall that easily..."
:He pushes Zion's body off his blade and turns back around:

:A gun crack breaks the silence. Sands pauses and looks around:
"It can't be."
:The 'dead' soldier is lying on his stomach, his rifle smokes from the shot. Chamber's face is blue and he shakes while he holds his wounded stomach. He rolls over onto his back and lets out a sigh. The bullet went pure and straight. Sands feels a distinct trickle run down his forehead. He reaches up to discover a gaping wound in his head:
"It.....it can't be......"
:He stumbles back, dropping his sword he leans on the enormous holding tanks that are crushed and spewnig liquids everywhere still:
"...not him..."
:Sands nods his head slowly as the shock sets in. He closes his eyes and falls into the tank:

Zion dimly hears the crack of the gunshot and Sands slumping to the ground.
Good.... He's dead...
His vision blurs for a second and his breath thins for a second while the blade's poison takes hold briefly. It seems to be held back by something, preventing it from fully taking hold. His crystal glows dully, unknown to him. He attempts to move but searing pain holds him in place. He just relaxes and focuses on breathing, the threat was gone for the time being. He attempted to heal himself slightly but the poison seemed to prevent it. He was in a kind of stasis, neither healing or slipping further away. He was content with that, for the time being.

"Dammit..." Clerian mutters to himself.
All five of them were pretty battered. The two girls were unconscious, Chamber was seemingly dying, and Zion wasn't looking any better. Clerian himself seemed to be the least injured from the fight with Sands. His only regret was that he couldn't have finished Elias off himself.
"We need assistance..." the ex-SeeD thought to himself, looking at the allies on the floor around him. Still...he wasn't leaving without them, so going for help was out of the question. Maybe Rainii had a communicator of some sort...
Walking over to Rainii, Clerian knelt down and lifted her head in his arms. With his other arm he channeled the magic for a Cura spell. It glowed brightly as the magic departed from Clerian and covered Esthar's President, taking effect.
"Rainii..." he said softly, hoping that she would wake up, "I need you to wake up."
He could only hope she had a communicator...a beacon...signal...anything...

::Rainii stirs a little, recognising that it's Clerian whos speaking to her, telling her to wake up.::
"...what...?"
::Clerian softly explains what he needs, and even in her current haze she understands. She manages to get the little communicator out of her pocket, and it falls on the floor next to her.::
"It'll...connect you to Quinn....and the army...and then probably...Julie. She's with them..."
::The light seems less blinding now, so the opens her eyes just a little, to get them used to it. It's still hard for her to see, but she notices that there's a distinct lack of activity in the room.::
"Is it over now?"

"Yes," Clerian replies sadly, "It's over."
He takes the coat from around his waist and folds it before placing it under Rainii's head.
"Rest for now, Rainii. Everything's fine..." he tells her, grabbing the communicator from the floor.
Clerian figures out the little device in no time, activating it and saying, "Quinn...Julie...if you guys can hear me, Sands is dead. Everyone's been injured, though, so we need assistance. Airlia's unconscious, Rainii's recovering from a stab wound, Zion's been stabbed and poisoned, while Chamber...is still holding on, I think. It's not good. Get over to the research lab if you can hear me..."
[OOC: I'll PM Julie about the communication.]

:Clerian is pulled off Rainiil. Claws dig into his ribs and his flesh burns. Hes thrown across the room and looks up to a monster standing over Rainii:
"It's not over yet..."
:The creature lumbers over towards Clerian. Its much larger than Sands, but Clerian glances over to where his body was and its gone:
"My little chemical bath was just the trick."

Zion hears the commotion and hears Elias speak. His mind races for ways to get back in the fight but none come to him. He lays there, in silent, mind going faster than the stroke that felled him.
Not good. Gotta move. Gotta get back up.
He attempts get up but falls, causing himself more pain. Frustrated and helpless he continues to seek and option. Suddenly, a voice sounds in his head.
I'm taking over. Your abilities are lacking.
The crystal around Zion's neck glows fiercely. A shadowy flame roars from it and envelops his body. Wings of the same shadowy flame sprout from his back. They have a slightly demonic appearance to them. Zion gets up, his wounds suppressed, for the time being at least. He draws his sword, the blade, also, enveloped in the same shadowy flame. His abilities increased by this, Zion charges Sands. He fires off three quick slashes at Sands before quick-stepping back and channeling shadow flame into an orb in his other hand. He, then, releases this orb at Sands and readies for retaliation.

Clerian takes heavy breaths, the claw wounds still burning across his chest. "Ugh...he just won't die. I killed him, Chamber killed him, and now he's back...bigger and more annoying than ever..." Clerian thought to himself, rolling to his stomach and pushing himself up off the ground.
The wounded man crawled over to where Airlia and Rainii lay, grabbing them both as gently as possible and pushing himself up against the wall, the two women in tow. He tried to make the two as comfortable as possible to let them rest before grabbing his twin gunblades. It was definitely an interesting sight, seeing the injured SeeD armed and ready as he could only sit himself up against the wall. No matter what, he was determined not to let anything happen to Rainii or Airlia.
"He better hope he can finish Sands, one demon to another. If I have to do the same, there's no telling what kind of damage it'll have on me afterward..." Clerian thought to himself. That last little ascension he had entered in order to seemingly defeat Sands was a heavy strain on the body, though it allowed for Clerian to surpass any normal human limits. He'd never even fully entered that stage, much less try it twice in one fight. The repercussions of such an attempt would likely cause extensive damage to Clerian's own body. That meant it was Zion's turn to fight the demon face to face.
