::She shakes her head. She knows he's not going to listen to her anymore than she would listen to herself if their roles were reversed::
I'm sorry Oliver, but I'm afraid I can't tell you what you came here for.
::She turns her back to him and starts making her way towards her chair::
This discussion has just impressed the risks it involves even heavier on me. As if I need reminding. I have a school to think about you know.

"So t'at's it t'en? Not goin' to help us?" Oliver asks, sounding slightly cold and yet very disappointed. "Wit'out t'at information I am as good as dead, can I 'ake t'at any clearer? Jus'even hav'in me here is a risk to ye school also! Leas'wit' w'at ye know, we can rid t'at risk away, an soon!"

::Lillith's voice remains calm and her face is blank as she turns to face him::
Again, I'm sorry Oliver. I'd love to tell you what I know, but I can't. Nothing would make me happier than to tell you about that tunnel at the back of the city in the north east cliff where the Regent keeps his private airship in case he needs to make an escape. I mean I'm sure you'd love to hear all about how it leads right under this trap door in the palace storeroom. But there's no way I can tell you about it. Oh and I really regret not being able to tell you about that secret passageway on the first floor in the library, third door on your right, right behind the painting of Infinity Paige dueling Loci, and how it leads to the second floor right into the Regent's chambers. But I can't. I hope you can find it in you to forgive me one day. I guess I'm just not the hero I used to be.

Oliver tries to scramble to say words, his mouth opening as if to say words. He bites on his index finger's knuckle then lazily points with it to Lillith with a smile across his lips. "Ye t'ink ye real'y cheeky dont'ya?" He motions with his index and pointer finger to his eyes, then to her. "I'm watch'in ye t'ere."
Oliver diverts his eyes for a moment. "T'anks..."

Call it the witch in me.
::She smiles, taking a step towards him. But with each step, her smile gets smaller. She puts both her arms around him and squeezes him very tightly, wishing he were that small boy she remembered from a simpler time that would never come back::

Oliver returns the hug, and for a moment, they embrace quietly together as if truly mother and child. It's Oliver who breaks it when he steps back.
"We rea'ly should be get'in back. It's a long f'ight an I'ave a lot to t'ink about."

::Lillith hastily wipes her eyes::
Right. I guess I owe your captain an apology then... be careful.
::After collecting Iole, Lillith sees them off at the door, giving Oliver the promised package of meat pies::
Now fly safe Iole, and remember to share those pies.
Iole: Yeah yeah.
::She rolls her eyes as she hugs the girl. And again she wraps Oliver in a tight embrace, the kind she gives that are tighter than they need to be. As they depart, Simon waves good-bye from where his mother holds him on her hip::
Simon: Good bye Auntie! Good bye Oliver! I'll miss you! Come back and visit!..... Mommy... why are you crying?
::But Lillith doesn't have an answer for her son yet. She just watches the dragon fly away in silence::
(OOC: Sounds like a good spot to end the thread. Well I'd better be catching some sleep)

::Some Time After Oliver's Visit::::Lillith is with her son in his room, continuing the ritual struggle of trying to get him to sleep. The five year old sits up in his bed, waving his arms stubbornly:: Simon: But Mommy, I'm not tired! I can't go to sleep now! How does the story end?! Does Crohan ever come back?! Do him and Rainii ever get married?! I wish I could answer that for you Simon. I reeeeaaaallly do. But it's way past your bed time, and you know what a grouch you can be in the morning. Simon:... Fine. But promise you'll finish tomorrow. I promise. Now good night Spitfire. ::She kisses his forehead before she turns out his light. The moonlight filters in through his bedroom window, and a small shadow in it alerts Lillith. It's the sillouhette of a bird, too small to be Melanie. She moves the window and opens it to find Emily the sparrow waiting with a folded piece of paper held tightly in her beak. She must have flown all night to get there. Lillith takes it and before she can thank the little sparrow, Emily departs. Lillith briefly wonders what her hurry is before going out into the hall to read. The very first sentence stops her heart:: “Dear Mother,
If you’re reading this, then I am dead and if you watch the news, you’ll understand why. I couldn’t go to my rest without telling you how thankful I am for all you’ve done for me and for bringing Iole into my life. I don’t need to tell you how much she means to me and how much I love her. I hope you will forgive me though, for not keeping my distance from her and hurting her, but as the saying goes, ‘to love and lost is better then to never have loved at all’ and that I feel is most appropriate in this situation. I died, staying steadfast to my convictions and ideas and my last thoughts will be of my love, Iole. Thank you, thank you for making me the man I am today. My true mother would be proud how you helped me turn out.
Sincerely, Oliver”::The sorceress races down the hall to her office, throwing the door open and not bothering to close it behind her. She snaps her fingers to turn her personal television on that hangs on a shelf overlooking the room:: fftalesrebirth.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=storyline&action=display&thread=1168&page=1::Lillith drops to her knees, her sobs shaking her entire frame. Outside the manor, it's starting to rain::

:Kenny was walking along the halls trying to keep quiet so that Simon would not wake up when he heard sobs coming downstairs as he made his way down the steps and saw the office doors opened. He noticed that Lillith was in tears as he went to comfort his wife:
"Whats wrong?"

:Kenny held Lillith as he had a feeling something was wrong when she told him Hes Gone. He then noticed the letter and picked it up with his free hand to look at it and realized that it was from Oliver whom he knew from Lindblum during the Harvester case. He saw Lillith about to cry as he held her tight and gently wiped her tears to help stop her from crying.:
"I'm so sorry, I wish we could have done something"

(OOC: He had a feeling something was wrong? Really? What tipped him off?)
::Kenny can feel his wife shake with her sobs::
I did do something. I killed him. I sent him to his death. I should have kept him here. I should have locked him in his room, something, anything besides what I did. Why? Why?

"Honey, why do you blame yourself? He had a destiny and there was nothing you could have done to stop it."
:He paused when he said that thinking about how she lost her sister yet he feels like he should have done something like her:
"Again I'm so sorry...He was a good person and a dear friend"

::Lillith stops and looks at her husband with a cold expression::
Destiny?
::Her mouth hardens into a thin line::
That's what you believe? It was his destiny to destroy himself? That boy was gentle and had a keen mind that he had only started to guess at, and he had a woman that loved him. When you see Iole again, you're really going to tell her that her love was destroyed because of destiny?
::She pushes herself off of him::
Get away from me.

((Sheesh I couldn't think of anything else to say didn't mean to anger))
:Kenny was a bit pale when Lillith who looked furious let go of him"
"I don't mean a destiny to destroy himself, to make the world a better place could have been the destiny, and I never would believe at all....I'm sorry, I tried to comfort you and once again I come out the failure"
:He begins to head out teary eyed:

(OOC: You know what her mood swings are like. Don't look at me, you're the one who married her ) ::Lillith's eyebrows knit together and her teeth grind:: There you go again feeling sorry for yourself. Don't you dare cry for yourself when you know good and damn well your sister is hurting worse. You know what losing the one you love is like. That's what Iole is going through right now. And if all you can do is cry about how you can't figure out how to console your unstable wife then I want you out of this office. Out of this house, I just don't want to see you like this.

:Kenny stops and begin to take a deep breath:
"You are right, I know whats it like to go through a loss. Listen, I apologize for saying the stuff about destiny. I thought Oliver was a wonderful lad he and in a way he really was family to us."
:He looked at Iole hoping she will calm down as he read the letter:

::Lillith sighs, trying to collect herself. She wasn't the only one hurting right now, and throwing herself into a solution, being the practical one usually helped clear her head::
I'm going to Lindblum. As far as I know, Eva's still on ice. Someone has to go talk to Iole. Whether you come with me or not is up to you, but she needs her family right now. And... maybe if I go it will help me find a reason for it all. Saying that it was destiny is just too easy. I need to find a deeper meaning. He was more than family. You read the letter. He called me his mother. The last things I said to him were instructions on how to reach the place where he knew he was going to die. What kind of mother does that?
