(OOC: Thought this would be a good time to get into Lillith's past as well. The title certainly fits)
::The next morning, little Simon is making his way to his mother's office when he hears a heated conversation between her and a man he can only see the back of through the key-hole::
??: Yes well, the will does state that she left it to you. But that brings us back to the question of where she obtained ownership from.
::Simon can see his mother at her desk with her arms folded and a set of small wrinkles between her eyebrows. He knows his mother's angry face all too well. Even Melanie the raven perched on her desk is watching the man with her beady black eye::
The Galbadian government has never shown any interest in this property before. Not while she was living here at least, and not when Edea lived here either.
??: Edea's ownership was during a different time. Paperwork slipped through the cracks in wartime. For now at least, we live in a time of peace and order.
::He turns finally and Simon can see the man's face sitting atop a pressed pinstripe suit. He's a handsome man with cropped black hair and browline glasses::
Well I can assure you as I have before, the paperwork is in order. It seems she bought up quite a bit of real estate. We'll never know exactly what she did with all of it, but...
??:That notwithstanding,
::Simon nearly gasped. In the short five years of his life he had never heard anyone, anyone interrupt his mother while she was talking::
??: it seems we've run into a problem. You see, ownership of real estate and other assets can be liquidated under the circumstances.
::Lillith narrows her eyes::
And what circumstances would those be?
??: Isn't it obvious? Prior to her death, Natalia commited crimes against humanity, both her ::Simon can feel the man's smug little grin even from the back:: and her subordinates.
::Simon doesn't expect it and nearly screams when he sees Lillith jump out of her seat and use air magic to toss the man off his feet to slam against the door::
I was hauled to an encampment when I was thirteen. I met my best friend while rescuing her from slavery. I spent two years treating one of my kind with a mental illness because of experiments that were performed on her when she was young. Don't talk to me about crimes against humanity Mister Rathbone!
::Rathbone pulls himself back to his feet::
Rathbone: We are not here to discuss restitution, we are here to discuss the legality of the ownership of this estate.
Well then go and have a chat with Headmaster Cid. I have a majority vote with the headmasters and faculty that this estate is an official garden, and unless you can have that status revoked, my family, my staff, and especially my students are staying right here.
Rathbone: Then perhaps I'll have to go over their heads.
Is that a threat?
Rathbone: You'd know all about threats wouldn't you. Is it true that you performed electrical torture for The Coven? But you want the populace to trust you with these children. You witches are all--
Simon: Don't call my mommy a witch!
::Lillith jumps in surprise as Simon throws the doors to the office open, nearly knocking the filthy man in the head. But the door is the least of his worries when his expensive Deling made shoes catch fire. In a show of buffoonery he leaps around the office, trying to put them out which only serves to fan the flames further. Melanie squawks and flaps her wings in disapproval. Lillith sighs and waves her hand, sucking the oxygen from the flames. The man's toes are now visible through the scorchmarks::
Rathbone: Why you insolent little-- ::Raises a hand to strike Simon::
Don't you DARE touch my son!
::He's struck in the back by another gust of air, knocking him flat on his face. He struggles pathetically to get back to his feet::
Rathbone: You'll pay for this!
Get out! Get out of my house! ::She sends more air waves at his back, hastening his retreat while Melanie takes flight after him, circling his head and batting his face with her wings:: And don't come back! And make sure my husband doesn't catch you because he'll do worse!
