Now that everything is pretty much wrapped up, I thought I'd sum up the aftermath and unload a few other little tidbits.
After math
NataliaDead and buried on the Island Closest to Hell with Hecate. After her death, strange violet flowers have begun to bloom all over the island. It was revealed that she was actually manipulating things to end in her downfall, wanting nothing more to do with Jezebel who turned out to be the real villain of the story. However history will only remember her as the power hungry Demon Witch who nearly destroyed the world, whereas Rainii will be remembered as the good sorceress who vanquished her. But Rainii and the others will know the truth, which was enough for her.
The CovenGuinevere: Assumed dead, killed by Jas. However some believe that she survived and may yet return to brew more trouble in the world one day. It was also revealed that she allied herself with Jezebel who agreed that Natalia might actually betray them both. The duel in which she killed a summoner turned out to be an exaggerated story of the unfortunate end of what was meant to be a friendly match between herself and a young summoner who was her friend. When her powers got out of hand, the boy was accidentally killed. This coupled with the snide and hateful whispers of the town-folk are what led to her downward spiral, changing her into a vindictive cruel and zealous witch.
Cronus: Killed by Guinevere to help Lillith escape with August and Kenny. Drained to death. Her real name was revealed to be Melanie.
Echidna: After watching Typhon destroyed in front of her, what remained of her sanity shattered. Iole captured her and arranged for her to be institutionalized in a mental facility where she is watched twenty four seven. (Trivia: Her primary caretakers Dr. Irie and Nurse Miyo Takano are named after the Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni characters. Echidna's real name, Rena Williams is also reminiscent of a character from that series).
Nyx: Turned out to be in on Natalia's plot to arrange her own death in order to stop Jezebel. This is also why she was sent to attack the crew of the Hijrah, as she was the only one skilled enough that Natalia was able to trust, to make it look like she was trying to kill them without doing them serious harm. She also allied herself with Shaft when August betrayed them. The two of them sent him through the gateway to destroy it. With Natalia dead, she has sworn to serve Iole whom she views as Natalia's heir.
Lillith: Is now considered one of the heroes of this story. She's formed close friendships with the others, and was even purposed to by Kenny. However they both agreed that it was too soon. Although she did promise to wait for him, making both of them officially engaged. Natalia also left her the orphanage (despite the fact that she doesn't technically own it). Lillith is going to use it to start a school for young sorceresses.
IoleIole turned out to have been near the heroes the entire time, prompted by Natalia to make sure that they'd be safe. She was behind Typhon's malfunction in Balamb, as well as the static charge on Echidna's tongue that saved Galeon from her kiss of death (a trick she learned from her friend Clive). After the battle in Esthar, she captured Echidna and had her locked away. She plans to leave this world via the gateway and adventure on her own for awhile in Freya. However she agreed to one last party with her family at Costa Del Sol before her departure, and promises to return one day.
ShaftTo atone for his actions against sorceresses which is the reason the curse on his arm still lingers, Shaft went to Winhill to apologize to the sorceress Rosalind whom he once tried to kill under the belief that she was Natalia. Ironically enough, he is now her knight and they were married the next spring. He also opted to help Lillith run her school.
Trivia and other Special Features1)There were originally two flashbacks on the island. The one I chose to omit was about Natalia's past with her first love and husband Adam. However I decided not to post it for just anyone to read as it was very very personal. (PM me if you want to read it).
2) The story of Guinevere and the summoner was actually meant to be a little nod to the constant squabbles that happened between Natalia and Infinity.
3)The old sorceress Leah and her stable boy Michael whom Lillith met in Timber turned out to be a glamored Natalia and Nyx.
4)Natalia's name in the old language of her people means Abyssal Princess, with Nata meaning void or nothing, but also being a term for Hell, and Lia (or Leah) meaning princess or fair maiden. Her late husband Adam always referred to her simply as Leah. This would explain the name she chose for her disguise.
5)Natalia's name is a play on Athaliah from the bible who was the daughter of King Ahab, and his Phoenician queen Jezebel. It's also the name of a saint in the Catholic Church whose husband Adrian was martyred for professing his faith in Christianity. For the story see :
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrian_and_Natalia_of_Nicomedia6) At their last meeting, Natalia told Crohan that his blade is known in other worlds, even telling him the name that her people called it; Nata-Mandaris, translating roughly to Blade of Nothing, or Blade of the void, foreshadowing the role it would play in his Final Mission as it is a sword that technically doesn't exist. This also suggests that Crohan's heroism is not only told in this world, but other worlds as well.
7) Natalia's home-world Freya is a parallel dimension that is inhabited by Elves. Due to a hint from Rainii's final vision on the island, as well as some physical similarities between the two, Natalia and Adam might actually have been Freya's version of Rainii and Crohan. However I choose to leave this entirely up to interpretation.
