"There isn't."
::She looks at Clerian and Julie in turn, then faces the gate and continues on through. Clerian and Julie follow behind her::

[glow=purple,2,300]All that I can tell you is be careful....I have much to tell you still and it does no good when you're dead.[/glow]
:Rainii looks around but no annoying little stick toating figure. Only a road with some dead bodies of soldiers strewn about leading into Lindblum. The city reeks of death and sulfur smell:

:: Julie covers her mouth with one hand, looking as if she might be sick. The sight of so many dead bodies had a little bit to do with it, but it was mostly the smell. She wanted to ask Rainii if this was a normal "adventure" for her, but it doesn't seem like the time. Maybe after they're safe back home... ::

"Hmph..." Clerian let out as he surveyed the bodies lining their path. The Empire did its job well, it seemed. He, however, seemed relatively unaffected by the disgusting smell of death and sulfur.
"This is what they'll do to us if they ever decide to invade our world," the young ex-SeeD said aloud. He wasn't sure where he was going with it, but he said it anyway. Part of him said it out of disbelief, but the darker part of him said it as a warning to stir Rainii's thoughts. She was President of Esthar, and she chose to get involved. Now, there was no turning back.
Turning to Julie, Clerian walked over and gave her a cloth scarf he had in one of the pocket compartments on his belt. "Here...breathe through this. I know the smell of battle can be unnerving, but this should lessen it a bit," he told her.
He then turned his eyes to Rainii, saying, "Are you willing to fight them? Now, after you've seen what they're capable of?"

Counter-ops drone 232675 reporting activity at lindblum Northern entrance where armored division 318's armor went down. Movement has been detected. Targets have been scanned in. File being sent. There is a one, Rainii Loire, President of Esthar. There is a one, Julie Loire, recently acquired in the data base. The little girl seems to be linked to the attacker we had in Doma a few days ago. The lone man is not scanning ni as any hero or potential hero in the system. Drone232675 also went through all current surviving data bases of any person registered in Gaia. He is unregistered and unknown. Approach this target with extreme caution. Notify troops that there are visitors to the city that need welcomed. Drone 232675 returning to patrol:

:: Julie accepts the scarf from Clerian ::
"Thanks..."
:: She ties it over her mouth, and resumes holding her gun ready with both hands. Breathing through the scarf helped, actually more than her hand had, but it didn't eliminate the smell completely. ::

:The warning sirens in the city begin to go off for reasons unknown to the heros. Adding to the erie conditions, but reassuring or not the screams have subsided:

"That can't be good," Clerian muttered.
Looking around for anyone in the vicinity, Clerian paused a moment. "Stay close..." he said to the two Loires, gripping his gunblades tightly.
A part of him thought that retreating would be the best course of action, but another part wondered if there were any civilians left alive. The deciding factor was the siren that froze the group in place for the time being.

::Rainii speaks quietly, looking at Clerian meaningfully.::
"I'm willing to fight. I'll do what it takes."
::The sound of the siren wailing fills her head, irritating her--mostly because it's just so loud. Like the others, she doesn't see anyone around.::
"Why is the siren going off now?Might there still be people here?"

:: Julie aims her gun forward, looking around and using her peripheral vision to see if any more enemy soldiers come out. She attempt to answer Rainii as well. ::
"I'd assume we've been seen. So we should probably stay on guard. We don't know how many soldiers they have inside..."

[glow=green,2,300]Beware the Vainslayer.....poisoned it is....[/glow]
:The prophet is now seen by Rainii, far ahead of them near the entrance:
[glow=green,2,300]I figure you may as well know since your friends Eva and Airlia are currently looking at it. Good thing for your group is here.....that the commander is not in Lindblum. There is something you need here...[/glow]
:He chuckles deviously:

You mind telling me what it is we need, or are you going to be difficult?
::Rainii's fairly sure of the answer, but had decided to ask anyway. The prophet just motions to the door.::
Fine then!
::She looks to the others.::
"Are we just going to stand here,or are we going to do something?"

"I prefer doing something," Clerian said casually, in the low tone of his.
"And I guess forward is the only direction we can proceed," he added, kicking a large chunk of rubble out of his way. Seeing a large spread of debris in the pathway from the entrance, Clerian extends his hand - launching a Fira spell, a burst of concentrated flame that destroys the wreckage around the path.
"Shall we, ladies?" he asks, looking back at Rainii and Julie.

:The prophets chuckle and continue ahead of them:
[glow=blue,2,300]Like I told you, I cannot help nor harm. I cannot alter the course. I cannot tell you the future. Hints and tid bits are all we can give you![/glow]
:The chuckling continues:
[glow=blue,2,300]You must seek help, we stay on main routes. Watch out for the eyes, they see everything, and report it all![/glow]

((OOC - Is there anyone in particular who decides when we encounter more soldiers? Still easing my way back into the whole sitewide storyline concept.))
:: Julie nods to Clerian and follows behind Rainii. She tries to stay alert and cover Rainii a bit, since it seems that she has the most ranged weapon, while Clerian appears to have some magical skill as well. She can't help but notice Rainii has seemed a bit distracted, or something, the whole time they've been in Lindblum. ::
"Is everything alright, Rainii?"
:: The question sounded stupid as soon as she said it. They're in the middle of battle, with dead bodies strewn across the city streets, and she's asking if everything's 'alright'. ::
"I mean... you keep looking like you're distracted by something..."

::If only Julie knew just how distracted she was, and by what.::
"Well...Just a lot on my mind, I guess...what with all that's gone on lately..."
::Her answer sounded stupid, but she didn't much care. How could she explain the prophet's existance without coming across as...well,crazy? 'I just happen to see a little cloaked figure who carries a stick and harasses me with riddles'?
Uh,no. That wouldn't really work.
She gives Julie a half-hearted smile as they reach the entrance, and takes a deep breath. Then, slowly, she opens the gates.::

(OOC- It really depends on who is with the story. I'll help you guys along more. Some people are better at adding things in and doing it themselves. Clerian has been gone forever and has always been a cautious type. Nat is too new, you've never done a SL, and Rainii is also cautious like Clerian. I'll help more with the Prophets and misc attacks)
:As the heros come down the main street they spot a small floating orb coming at them. A red light on top flickers as it floats along:
